"All it takes is one bad day to reduce the sanest man alive to lunacy. That's how far the world is from where I am. Just one bad day."
When viewing the subject for today's discussion, I couldn't help recalling that standout piece of dialogue taken from Alan Moore and Brian Bolland's classic graphic novel, Batman: The Killing Joke. For those who've read it, you're well aware of how it remains among the definitive tales examining the iconic villain that is the Joker, so keep that in mind as we proceed.
Even though I'm someone who did enjoy Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice - more specifically the Ultimate Edition containing 30 minutes of additional footage that filled in some serious storytelling gaps - I'm willing to admit that neither version was 100% perfect.
"I'm Eddie Brock. I'm a reporter."
By now, those words are as burned into my brain as "my name is Oliver Queen" because Sony seemingly loves starting off pretty much every trailer promoting Venom with that very line. Really, I'm now expecting to hear it more than the ominous "we are Venom."
After witnessing the likes of Justice League, Batman: The Brave and the Bold and Beware the Batman being granted Blu-ray releases, fans have probably wondered what’s been the holdup when it comes to Batman: The Animated Series getting the same treatment. Granted, those other shows are more recent and require less in the way of polishing, but that doesn’t change the fact that many of us have been waiting impatiently for such a thing to happen.
Barring Young Justice, I was never really one to indulge in the adventures of adolescent heroes, but I've long been intrigued by the notion of a live action Titans series nonetheless. Like some of you, I feel that there exist many DC heroes and villains who are overdue for exposure outside of comics and animation.
Though Arrow is entering what's sure to be a brutal and exciting seventh season, it's just a statement of fact that the journey will have to end at some point. Perhaps it'll be able to equal - or surpass - what Smallville had achieved if it reaches the ten-year mark or beyond, but either way, it's been a memorable run nonetheless.
With the Arrowverse set to return in full force this fall, it's very much understandable that The CW kick it up a notch when it comes to advertising. Just recently, they put out a rather badass promo featuring some of our favorite heroes, with one titled "Suit Up" being hot on its heels.
While we’re sure that many of you enjoyed reading Laura Kinney’s adventures as the All-New Wolverine, it stands to reason that a chunk of the fanbase will forever view her simply as X-23. Knowing this – and possibly having something to do with her onscreen counterpart being well received in Logan – Marvel recently rolled out a new solo series spotlighting the cult favorite.
By now, you’re probably aware of how much footage didn’t make it into the version of Justice League we ultimately received in theaters, thus leading to demand that the fabled Zack Snyder cut see the light of day. And while the home video release did indeed contain a few extra treats involving Superman, it’s one of DC’s other heavyweights that we’re here to discuss today.
When it comes to the Terminator franchise, I think we could debate for some time regarding whether or not another sequel will succeed or bomb at the box office after underwhelming performances given by the last two installments - Salvation and Genesys - but the fact remains that it's one of the most beloved science fiction series of all time. Therefore, studios are still willing to spend some dough on it.
