When it comes to the subject of cliffhangers, Arrow can most certainly lay claim to playing host to some memorable ones. Heck, I'm still reminded of the midseason finale that its third year boasted, with Ra's al Ghul impaling Oliver Queen and tossing him off a cliff. Suffice it to say, that was the most literal of "cliffhangers" I've seen on television.
After years of back-and-forth regarding whether or not Jerome Valeska would eventually evolve into the one true Joker - not to mention a death and resurrection on his part - it appears as though the moment Gotham fans have been waiting what felt like an eternity for is about to arrive. There is just one catch, however: Though Cameron Monaghan will be the actor tasked with doing so, it won't be Jerome who'll ultimately end up as Batman's greatest nemesis.
If you’ve been following what Marvel’s been up to for the past year or so, then you know how much fun they’ve been having with the Punisher. Not only has he turned a lot of heads by donning the War Machine armor in his own ongoing series, but he’s also been revealed to be the Cosmic Ghost Rider in the wildly popular "King Thanos" story arc.
Having seen the first trailer for Tremors: A Cold Day in Hell, it’s hard not to reflect on the cult favorite series. I mean, the franchise really has come a long way from the original picture that starred Kevin Bacon back in 1990. What started as a flick that toed the line between horror and comedy has now given way to five sequels, a TV series and even had its influence felt in Resident Evil CODE: Veronica when a familiar looking “Gulp Worm” showed up to confound the Redfield siblings.
For the past few months, it seems like one of the most popular dead horses to beat is that of the idea of Zack Snyder's fabled cut of Justice League. Now, whether you believe he left the project willingly or was forcefully removed by Warner Bros. and replaced by Joss Whedon is a discussion for another day, but it's become apparent to all that those two men likely would've assembled two remarkably different final cuts.
At this point, it's very hard to imagine the Arrow landscape without John Diggle. Really, David Ramsey's character has been there since the very beginning and has evolved from being Oliver Queen's bodyguard to Spartan, a superhero in his own right who has been key in the crusade to save Star City for the past several years. Granted, Ollie and Dig had quite the spat near the end of season 3, but they've since patched things up.
Already, we know that Legends of Tomorrow's fourth season is shaping up to be something else, what with Matt Ryan's John Constantine and Jes Macallan's Ava Sharpe being promoted to series regulars. Still, the producers will have to rack their brains figuring out which other historical figures they'll have to factor into the time traveling show in the next year.
Though we may still be waiting for Kevin Smith to further extend his tendrils out into the Arrowverse, one has to admit that he’s directed some mighty fine episodes of both The Flash and Supergirl to date. Of those, it’s become apparent that he likes to focus on character and emotion, but he’s still left room for some epic science fiction sequences.
While his solo series may have been unfortunately cancelled by NBC a few years back, it’s been exciting to see Matt Ryan reprise his role of John Constantine, be it on various other TV shows or in animated movies. Actually, we’ve been quite spoiled in recent memory, as he’s appeared several times on Legends of Tomorrow, and is slated to become a series regular as of season 4.
With less than a week to go until Legends of Tomorrow's season finale arrives, it's time we begin wrapping our heads around how much will be contained within that hour of television. I mean, not only will the team find themselves transported back to the Old West for the final battle against Mallus, but we've got some notable guest stars to look forward to seeing.
