If you've been following Legends of Tomorrow this season, then you're probably aware of how the current big bad, Mallus, is voiced by the incomparable John Noble. Having already lent his pipes to other DC characters in a variety of media - Superman: Unbound's Brainiac and Batman: Arkham Knight's Scarecrow immediately spring to mind - odds are that you've acquainted yourself with him at some point.
In 1975, Jaws made moviegoers afraid to go in the water. Then, in 2013, Sharknado came along and probably forced a small percentage of people to fear the outdoors as a whole, lest a rogue shark actually slaughter them on their front lawn.
If you've been keeping up with the current season of Arrow, then you may make the argument that it feels like a true ensemble show now more than ever. In fact, the title card at the top of each episode these days also showcases logos for the likes of Black Canary, Spartan, Wild Dog and others.
As you may be aware, the Friday the 13th film series is currently in an unfortunate state of legal limbo. Long story short, Victor Miller, screenwriter of the original movie, is attempting to take back the rights to the franchise. Basically, the worst case scenario would see all future Friday the 13th films released in the United States having to be made without the character of Jason Voorhees. On the flip side, movies made under that banner overseas can include him but are banned domestically.
Although many actors have become typecast or mainstays in the horror genre (that’s certainly not a bad thing because it can keep you employed for life), there aren’t as many who can say that they’ve inhabited more than one iconic role. Fortunately for Kane Hodder, the former Jason Voorhees has kept lovers of the macabre entertained in recent years as Victor Crowley in the Hatchet series of films. Granted, the latter is less mainstream than the former, but our point remains valid.
As someone who was rather critical of Legends of Tomorrow for its first two seasons, I must give credit where credit is due by saying that not only is its third the best yet, but I also find it to be one of the better DC TV shows this year. Really, it's found the right balance between drama and humor, embraced the richness of the source material more than ever before, and made some fine additions to the Waverider such as John Constantine and the incoming Kid Flash.
When it comes to the more famous romantic couplings the X-Men can lay claim to, it's probably safe to say that pretty much everybody is familiar with pairings like Jean Grey and Cyclops or Rogue and Gambit. But, to comic book readers, there's one that we haven't really seen explored outside of this medium, and that's Kitty Pryde and Colossus.
Now that we're somewhat within reaching distance of Avengers: Infinity War's theatrical release, it's only natural that various forms of merchandise begin flooding the marketplace. Already, we've gotten looks at T-shirts, backpacks and the like, and, now, comes what diehards geeks may very well look forward to most.
Although many of you are familiar with Kane Hodder via his portrayal of Jason Voorhees in four of the Friday the 13th films, what you may or may not know is that he's found much success in recent years thanks to the Hatchet series. And with his latest reprisal of the titular character in Victor Crowley, he's further cemented himself as one of the more prolific horror icons.
Being a lifelong lover of horror, I've naturally indulged in the genre outside of movies and literature. To be honest, the video game medium might be my favorite to explore this avenue just because of how immersive it is and how it transports you to a different world like no other.
