Even though it appears that the DC Extended Universe will not be as dark going forward, it certainly doesn’t hurt to develop a few kid friendlier movies here and there. Yes, superheroes appeal to folks of all ages these days, but odds are that you embraced the genre at a very young age just as I did.
Aside from the show being forced to take a vacation for several months, it’s probably safe to say that one of the major reasons that a fair amount of us are looking forward to Gotham‘s midseason premiere is because we expected that Jerome Valeska would heavily factor into it, right? After all, not only was he involved in the midseason finale’s cliffhanger, but he’s been prominently featured in promos and social media teasers in the time since.
Once the closing moments of Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday set up a prospective Freddy vs. Jason film, horror fans were forced to endure a strange ballad for about a decade before the big mashup was finally made a reality. And when it did eventually arrive, it was a bit bittersweet because one particular actor was left out of the mix.
While we each have our favorite entry in the Friday the 13th franchise - and Kane Hodder actually has one of his own as well - I must admit that mine is Jason X. Sure, there may be the purists among you that scoff at the idea of sending Jason Voorhees into space, but I believe there's a beauty in the absurdity of it all - and there's also the fact that I believe it contained some of Jason's best kills overall.
Being a huge fan of Superman myself, you can only imagine how excited I am for what 2018 has in store for Big Blue, be it the start of the Brian Michael Bendis era or otherwise. Still, that doesn't mean I'm going to take my eyes off the present, because there's still a lot going on in the current run of the book.
In recent memory, you may have noticed that The CW has been dropping images taken from episodes of their various series well before they actually air. To be honest, this practice is commonplace, but I can't help but think of how many times the more recent examples have fueled speculation or flat-out spoiled what's to come.
Now that Justice League is available for consumption in digital format, the folks over at Warner Bros. are expectedly doing all they can to promote it. As such, newly cut trailers are finding their way online, each of which may be markedly different from those that accompanied the theatrical release.
While we could go back and forth regarding what the Justice League movie did right and what it did wrong - because there was a generous share of both - it's my belief that Superman had been depicted rather well. Aside from that incredible scene that saw a freshly resurrected and confused Man of Tomorrow single-handedly take down some of DC's heaviest hitters, we saw the character convey a sense of optimism that he's been known for across all forms of media - but something many complained was absent from the iteration occupying the DC Extended Universe.
In just a matter of days, the moment we've been waiting for will finally arrive when Black Panther storms cinemas, firmly establishing T'Challa as one of the newest major players in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And after hearing that the film's opening weekend box office tally may exceed $165 million domestically, I'm really getting the sense of how many other moviegoers are looking forward to this as well.
After spending a few years on ice, Wolverine sure is making an impact on readers with his return to the Marvel Universe, even if it's been a bit subtle thus far. If you'll recall, he began appearing in various epilogue sequences that the House of Ideas have dubbed "post-credits scenes" throughout the month of January. But, as it turns out, Logan isn't finished lurking in the shadows, as the publisher has given us the Valentine's Day gift of placing him in two more.
