After bearing witness to a memorable visit made to the Waverider by one John Constantine, the time has come to begin looking forward to whatever Legends of Tomorrow may bring us next. Now, you may be thinking we're about to discuss next week's episode that'll see the team get stuck in a time loop Groundhog Day-style, but, believe it or not, we're actually going to talk about what's to follow.
One reason why the character of Batman has endured for 78 years is that he’s so malleable. Sure, there are intrinsic qualities that unite various interpretations such as his superior intellect, martial arts skills and care for his fellow man, but that doesn’t mean there haven’t been portrayals on opposite ends of the spectrum. For example, both Adam West and Ben Affleck have brought something very different to the table, but neither man’s efforts were no less valid than the other – and the same sentiment can be extended to comics and animation.
If you've been keeping up with the Marvel Universe as of late, then you're well aware of how Wolverine has been lurking in the shadows, popping up in various "post-credits scenes" in several of the publisher's marquee titles. What we don't know, however, is how the heck is he walking around? And why does he have an Infinity Stone?
Further solidifying himself as one of the most bankable men in all of Hollywood, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson returns with Rampage, a big screen adaptation of the classic arcade game that's seen a few sequels in the time since its original release. Granted, it'll see some stiff competition in a year chock full of other blockbusters, but it does look like a lot of fun and stands a very good chance of attracting a fair amount of moviegoers.
To say that 2018 will be a big year for Superman is a massive understatement. Not only will Action Comics #1000 be hitting stands in a couple of months and a special hardcover will see release in order to celebrate his 80th anniversary in publication, but we also have the matter of Brian Michael Bendis becoming the guiding hand behind Big Blue for the foreseeable future.
Even if you don't know the name of Kevin Williamson offhand, there are very strong odds that you're familiar with his body of work in some fashion. For starters, he breathed new life into the teen slasher genre back in the 1990's with the game-changer that was Scream and a franchise somewhat similar to it, that being I Know What You Did Last Summer.
The beauty of having someone with a strong personality like that of John Constantine's doing a guest shot on Legends of Tomorrow is that he's going to have markedly different interactions with everyone aboard the Waverider. Sure, we knew he'd hit on Citizen Cold and something would end up going down between him and White Canary, but we had no idea that the demonologist would actually end up doing it with Sara Lance - and in a 1969 asylum, no less.
To say there was a lot of hype going into last night's midseason premiere of Legends of Tomorrow is an understatement. I mean, not only did you have Matt Ryan doing a guest shot as fan favorite John Constantine, but there was also the matter of Wentworth Miller's farewell lap in the Arrowverse to deal with. Overall, I felt the show turned in its best episode of the season thus far.
Being somebody who attends a great deal of conventions in southeast Michigan each year, I'm understandably thrilled to see whenever another new show joins the club. Really, no matter if it's as big as Motor City Comic Con or as small as Redford Comic Con, I'm going to do my best to show up.
Although we could probably keep going back and forth when it comes to what the last few episodes of The Flash had to offer, I hope that we can all agree it's for the better that Barry Allen has finally been exonerated and is out of prison. To borrow from the title of the Scarlet Speedster's inaugural story arc in the New 52, we can now "move forward."
