Even though there isn't a shadow of uncertainty currently being cast over the James Bond franchise as there was during the time that separated Quantum of Solace and Skyfall, I can't help but draw parallels. Sure, the theatrical date for 007's next outing may have been penciled in, but a lot of questions remain surrounding the project.
Despite having Superman Lives escape his grasp two decades ago, Kevin Smith has done well for himself in the time since. Not only has he gone on to write comic books highlighting the exploits of Daredevil, Green Arrow and Batman, but he also had the good fortune of directing two episodes of The Flash in recent years.
Last year, Warner Bros. treated us with the awesome Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders, which saw the likes of Adam West, Burt Ward and Julie Newmar reprise their roles of Batman, Robin and Catwoman, respectively. Being essentially the beginning to a fourth season we never received, it surpassed expectations by retaining the feel of the classic 1960’s television series, while also featuring grandiose action scenes that could’ve never been accomplished on the budget of the show.
If you're one of the diehard fans of the Arrowverse, odds are that you're already well aware of how it's expanded beyond live action television adventures. In fact, it's spilled over into comic books, novels and even animated web series, the first of which was Vixen, an endeavor that was later cut together as one seamless animated movie.
Even though its confirmation seemingly came out of nowhere, the Hellboy reboot may very well be among the most anticipated comic book movies currently in development, despite it not even having a concrete release date as of yet. Set to be directed by Neil Marshall with David Harbour having been recast in the title role and Milla Jovovich on board as the main villain, it's obvious that no time is being wasted in getting this production off the ground.
While it could be argued that May's explosive finale which left us on one heck of a cliffhanger is motivation alone to get us to tune in for the season 6 premiere of Arrow, there's certainly much else to look forward to. Off the top of my head, we have Deathstroke returning for several episodes, a new Black Canary sporting one badass costume and yet another DC TV crossover, just to name a few things.
With the home video release of Batman and Harley Quinn inching evermore closer, it's hard not to reach a new level excitement for DC's next animated film. After all, reuniting fan favorite voice actors such as Kevin Conroy and Loren Lester in their roles of Batman and Nightwing, respectively, is just one of the many things making this flick feel like a true continuation of The New Batman Adventures.
Much to the delight of fans who dig shared universes, The CW will unleash its fourth annual DC TV crossover in a matter of months, something that's become one of our favorite fall traditions. And although the plot remains under wraps, we do know that all four parts are set to be contained to two nights.
Despite the fact that Sony has decided to confound us all by building a cinematic universe of their own comprised of Spider-Man’s supporting characters that doesn’t seem to actually be inhabited by the icon himself, it’s very hard not to look forward to a movie starring Black Cat and Silver Sable, even if it could use a better title than Silver & Black. Well, the film is bound to have more than a few detractors, regardless, but you can't help being the slightest bit curious.
Admittedly, Justice League is a movie I've waited my entire life for, as it's bringing several of my favorite characters together for the first time in live action cinema. Likewise, I imagine that many of you reading this share that sentiment, hoping that the combined talents of directors Zack Snyder and Joss Whedon will make for a viewing experience like no other.
