On the one hand, it could be said that the zombie subgenre has been overexposed in the past decade or so, but all it really takes is for the right product to come along to reignite the interest of even the most jaded fan. Earlier this year, the Resident Evil 2 remake kicked all kinds of ass on the gaming side of things, and now it's Zombieland: Double Tap's turn to do it on the silver screen.
Even though Henry Cavill did technically play Superman in three different films, I remain among those who lament how he never truly got to explore the timeless icon to his full potential. After all, his second and third go-rounds came in the form of team-up flicks, so we've yet to see Big Blue's answer to The Dark Knight, so to speak.
If there's any improvement James Gunn could make over 2016's offering with his version of The Suicide Squad, it'd be that of the antagonistic villain of the piece. Admittedly, I did enjoy a variety of aspects of David Ayer's flick, but the Enchantress did kind of fall flat.
In the years since Batman Beyond concluded its legendary three-season run, its legacy has lived on in the comic book realm. At first, DC continued the adventures started in the animated series itself, but the publisher eventually rolled out stories taking place within comics canon. To put it plainly, Terry McGinnis is officially part of the DC Universe.
With Arrow about to enter its eighth and final season, it's really looking like the producers are going all out to assure that the show goes out with a bang. Already, we've learned that Colin Donnell and Josh Segarra are returning as Tommy Merlyn and Adrian Chase, respectively, with more surprises expected for the final ten episodes.
When the Arrow panel conducted at San Diego Comic-Con finally rolled around this past weekend, we came to find the first trailer promoting the eighth and final season consisted mostly of older footage. In other words, it was very much a retrospective, and played as a highlight reel revisiting the finer points from Oliver Queen's journey. Actually, it was rather befitting because the show has really come a long way.
Right now, a lot of fans are asking "will they or won't they?" when it comes to Iain Glen suiting up as Batman in Titans' second season. Granted, common sense would dictate as much because he's been cast as Bruce Wayne, but you never know which limitations are put on DC TV shows so that they don't step on the toes of WB's motion picture division. In other words, keeping season 1's Batman fantasy separate from Glen's out-of-costume Bruce may be a reality we'll have to accept.
By now, you're probably aware of how Arrow's eighth and final season has a whole lot to do with "Crisis on Infinite Earths" - and how the Emerald Archer himself will play a huge role in the crossover itself. Actually, we may have to amend that statement to saying "roles" from here on out.
If you've been following the Arrowverse for some time, then you know how it's been populated by its share of Canaries - and each fan has their own opinion regarding who was best. For some, they favor the original, Sara Lance, while others prefer her sister, the late Laurel. Or, they may hold Dinah Drake in high esteem. Of course, arguments could also be made for Earth-2's Laurel, even though she goes by Black Siren.
In just a few months, Joker will cap off what's proven to be an incredible year for comic book movies. Granted, it'll be much different than your usual summer blockbuster fare, but I wouldn't expect anything less for one of fiction's most vile men.
