When you think about it, Margot Robbie has become just as synonymous with the character of Harley Quinn as Arleen Sorkin in very short order. While the latter set the standard for the Clown Princess of Crime's voice on Batman: The Animated Series back in the day, Robbie's look in the live action Suicide Squad flick remains one of the most frequently seen cosplays at conventions and Halloween parties. Needless to say, the mark has been made.
Following last month's phenomenal Arrowverse crossover, "Elseworlds," we were treated to the first promo hyping the midseason premiere of The Flash. If you were to ask me, this is something we should all get geeked for because I sincerely believe the current season to be the best since the show's sophomore year.
If you were to ask me which comic book movie I'm anticipating most in 2019, I'd have two answers for you. The obvious one is Joker because it's being released theatrically in October, but overall, Batman: Hush takes the cake for me. It may be animated and direct-to-video, sure, but I've long waited for my favorite story featuring the Caped Crusader to be adapted to film.
If any DC animated series has a storied existence, it's most definitely that of Young Justice. For two seasons, it captured the hearts and minds of viewers with great characterization, intriguing covert operations, and its willingness to put adolescent superheroes in mature storylines. In other words, it was far from a Teen Titans rehash.
Ever since his introduction in 1991's New Mutants #98, Deadpool hasn't changed all that much in a visual sense. Like any comic book character, he's naturally undergone alterations in the years since leaving the hands of his creator, Rob Liefeld, but odds are that we're all going to picture something similar in our minds whenever Wade Wilson is mentioned.
Incredible as 2007's Superman: Doomsday animated film was, it generated controversy due to its condensing of such expansive source material into one movie. To be honest, I accepted it for what it was, though I understand why DC fans lamented the exclusion of Superboy, Cyborg Superman, the Eradicator and Steel.
With the Arrowverse still riding high following that awesome "Elseworlds" crossover, it's no wonder how the brand is able to maintain its popularity after being around for the better part of the current decade. After all, we're set to receive a live action adaptation of "Crisis on Infinite Earths" later on in 2019, and that's just plain awesome.
Considering how Titans has incorporated two Robins - Dick Grayson and Jason Todd - into its overarching story, it's rather difficult to avoid dealing with the subject of Batman. In the case of Dick, the rocky relationship between he and his mentor was a theme central to season 1, which culminated in the action-packed finale.
After IT proved to be a force at the box office last year, Hollywood seemingly came down with another case of what we’ll call “Stephen King Fever” (no relation to Disco Fever or Hulkamania), as various other adaptations of the legendary author’s works were put into production.
Whenever a major comic book event descends upon us, it's only natural for fans to think a major death will occur. In the case of Infinity Wars, we were witness to the symbolic demise of Drax the Destroyer. You see, the persona known to True Believers the world over was consumed by a black hole, with only his human form of Arthur Douglas being left behind.
