Though it may have been overshadowed by the many Marvel Studios films to have followed in the time since, I believe that Captain America: The First Avenger still stands as a triumph for the brand. After all, not only was it a great movie to begin with, but it was the first flick featuring the Sentinel of Liberty that didn't suck.
It feels like just yesterday that Arrow aired its 100th episode, a milestone which actually arrived midway through the "Invasion!" crossover during the fall of 2016. And as memorable as that night was, a double-edged sword of sorts came along with it. In other words, the writers were tasked with honoring the 99 chapters to have preceded it, yet also had to make it a coherent part in a crossover.
If you've been keeping up with the current season of Legends of Tomorrow, then you've no doubt been witness to the Waverider crew doing battle with threats much different from those prior. Before, they had to deal with the likes of Vandal Savage and the Legion of Doom, but Mallus opened the door for a carnivorous unicorn, a fairy godmother and, more recently, a Minotaur.
From the very beginning, Arrow has especially excelled at staging incredible fight scenes. Of course, much credit goes to lead actor Stephen Amell for being able to pull off many of his own stunts when it comes to fisticuffs and parkour, but it's important that we not forget about the contributions made by one James Bamford.
If you're current on Arrow, then you're no doubt aware of how Oliver Queen has finally been liberated from Slabside. Granted, our hero's stay in prison did make for some intense television, but I, for one, am happy to get back to business as usual.
By now, you'd think we've said all we could about the upcoming "Elseworlds" crossover, but it's arguable there's more intrigue and excitement going into this particular Arrowverse event than any other to have preceded it. And with just under two weeks to go until the adventure begins, we'll undoubtedly see more news flooding the web.
If you tuned in for tonight's episode of The Flash, not only did you see Barry and Nora team up to successfully take down Weather Witch, but you were also witness to flashbacks detailing the origin of Cicada. And though it was intriguing to see this season's big bad humanized and fleshed out, he still doesn't have the depth of Supergirl's Agent Liberty, who's someone we can truly call a multi-dimensional villain.
n the past few years, Legends of Tomorrow has played host to a variety of cameos made by historical figures. For better or worse, the likes of Albert Einstein, Elvis Presley and even a young Barack Obama have each crossed paths with the Waverider crew at some point. Heck, last night's episode, "Tender is the Nate," featured guest appearances from Salvador Dali and Ernest Hemingway.
For us fans of Gotham, the wait for the fifth and final season has been hard to endure, doubly so because of the Batman prequel series not premiering during the fall as it had for the previous four years. But now that we're merely weeks away from showtime, the network is strategically teasing us with new footage.
Now that Oliver Queen has finally been liberated from Slabside, we can get back to enjoying Arrow as we've come to love it. Well, actually, we still need for the other members of the team to fully suit up just as they had in the old days, but I think we'll get there in due time.
