Classic Villains Return In First Promo For The Flash’s 100th Episode

If you tuned in for tonight's episode of The Flash, not only did you see Barry and Nora team up to successfully take down Weather Witch, but you were also witness to flashbacks detailing the origin of Cicada. And though it was intriguing to see this season's big bad humanized and fleshed out, he still doesn't have the depth of Supergirl's Agent Liberty, who's someone we can truly call a multi-dimensional villain.

As luck would have it, the STAR Labs crew uncovered Cicada’s identity in the closing moments, but the battle is far from over. Believe it or not, the Scarlet Speedster will be forced to go on a scavenger hunt of sorts throughout the past few years in order to complete a checklist necessary in combating the latest threat.

Of course, this is all part of the show’s 100th episode celebration that’ll see the return of familiar foes such as Reverse-Flash, Zoom and Savitar. In fact, the trailer for “What’s Past is Prologue” confirms as much, and can be viewed at the top of this article.

You may have noticed that most of the shots pertaining to villains of yesteryear came from old footage, though there is the tease at the end showing Barry and Nora in the same room with Eobard Thawne – as played by Tom Cavanagh, no less.

When it comes to Zoom, however, it remains unknown whether Teddy Sears was available to suit up. At the very least, we do know that Tony Todd recorded dialogue for Hunter Zolomon’s voice used whenever under a mask. That said, it could very well be a stuntman in the suit itself.

No matter what, you’ll definitely want to check out “The Past is Prologue,” the synopsis for which can be found right here:

TOM CAVANAGH DIRECTS THE 100TH EPISODE — In the 100th episode, Barry (Grant Gustin) and Team Flash come up with a plan to stop Cicada (Chris Klein). However, the plan calls for Barry and Nora (Jessica Parker Kennedy) to travel back in time to gather some key necessities. Meanwhile, Sherloque (Tom Cavanagh) takes his concerns about Nora to Iris (Candice Patton), and Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) turns up a key asset in the fight against Cicada. Tom Cavanagh directed the episode written by Todd Helbing & Lauren Certo (#508).
