Even James Wan probably couldn't have guessed at the time how iconic his 2013 film The Conjuring would go on to be. The horror flick has since spawned an abundance of acclaimed sequels and spinoffs since its inception six years ago. That's a trend that doesn't appear to be stopping any time soon. Even before the recent release of the well-received Annabelle Comes Home, those in charge were already planning how the spooky franchise could branch out next. In fact, it's even teased in the movie itself.
The last time A Nightmare on Elm Street was rebooted back in 2010, the results were very underwhelming. Still, there's been a recent push for the classic 1984 supernatural slasher film to be remade the right way. A potential reimagining of the movie has been on ice for the past few months due to The Conjuring, but now it looks like the ball is finally starting to get rolling, and Alexandre Aja is currently among the directors being eyed to helm the flick.
Viewers who already think Midsommar is disturbing enough as is will agree that the movie was much more unnerving than most R-rated films. The eerie thriller certainly doesn't shy away from graphic death scenes, which is why the Motion Picture Association of America originally wanted to rate the pic as NC-17 before eventually settling on R. The extremely rare label would've likely crippled the film's box office numbers, as well as limited the amount of publicity and exposure it received.
Toy Story 4 has been overwhelmingly praised by both critics and audiences alike since it released earlier this summer. Not everyone is pleased with the film, though. The frequent whiner group known as One Million Moms is furious about an extremely brief moment in the movie that they feel normalizes a lifestyle that they're vehemently opposed to.
Anything can happen in the Stephen King universe. Vampires, ghosts, supernatural killer clowns and more are all possible in the works of the master of horror. Reality, however, is a different story.
HBO's upcoming Game of Thrones prequel has yet to be given an official title, but that's not stopping George R.R. Martin from trying to dub it himself. The author has referred in the past to the series as The Long Night, which the network has denied as being the name. In a recent chat with Entertainment Weekly, the writer revealed what he hopes to be the moniker for the show when all is said and done.
It's already well known that Warner Bros.' upcoming Birds of Prey will be dark and gritty. Given Harley Quinn's storyline, it would be disappointing if the flick was anything but. Still, some might be surprised to know just how gory and intense it's going to be.
Following the massive success of Avengers: Endgame, it would seem like Marvel shouldn't really have to worry about box office numbers again for a long time. While that may be the case for the majority of the studio's upcoming films, Spider-Man: Far From Home is definitely the exception. This movie's total gross has much more at stake than just cash. If the blockbuster can pull in over one billion dollars, Marvel will regain full creative control over the web slinger.
DC's upcoming Birds of Prey is already making history before it even hits theaters. The expected blockbuster is going to be the first major superhero film to feature a prominent gay character. Black Mask, the movie's main antagonist, will reportedly be portrayed as homosexual. Though his sexuality is never explicitly stated, the sexual tension between him and fellow villain Victor Zsasz is rumored to be palpable.
Toy Story 4 hasn't even left theaters yet, but fans are already clamoring for a fifth installment of the legendary franchise. While Pixar has yet to rule out another movie in the series, nothing is definite as of yet. Even if the notoriously slow-moving studio does decide to move forward on Toy Story 5, the film likely won't be released until a decade or so passes.
