The clock is winding down to the first global, simultaneous Pokémon release of all time, and Nintendo is periodically trickling out new Pokémon X and Y info to whip fans into a frenzy before October 12th. Today, the Pokémon Company and Nintendo revealed a fair slew of new stuff for Poké-fanatics to think about, including the evolutions of the game's starter Pokémon, info about token antagonist organization Team Flare, and more.
Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl is coming! With each day that passes I grow more obsessively excited, scrounge for more new information about the title, and then stare at pictures of the pre-order bonuses until I pass out around 2AM or so. Wake-up, repeat. By launch you should be seeing this entire website covered in news about the game, along with reports that I've been hospitalized. Totally worth it though!
Free-to-play is all the rage, so why shouldn't there be a F2P Soulcalibur? Namco must follow the same logic, as the company announced yesterday a free-to-play entry in the famed fighting series called Soulcalibur: Lost Swords.
Does the new PlayStation Vita appeal to you? I had never considered buying one before, and with the dawn of the PS Vita TV for $99 I'm still not sure if I'd buy one now. That doesn't mean the new version isn't a whole lot thinner, lighter, and overall sexier, though. According to Sony, is 20% thinner and a fifth lighter than the original, substantial improvements when considering this is something you hold in your hands constantly.
As a child of the 90s, it's difficult to think of an animated film that excited me more than Pokémon: The First Movie. The stellar followup Pokémon: The Movie 2000 soon became my personal favorite, and though subsequent entries were pretty enjoyable for what they were, those two earned and cemented their place in my heart nostalgia-wise and will likely never be replaced.
JRPG characters are the absolute masters of cheeky combat dialogue, but Arthur Charles of Atlus's upcoming Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl must be vying for one of the all-time top spots.
AquaPazza's North American arrival is nigh, and-- what, you're still too busy playing Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate to handle another fighter right now? No! That's too damn bad! I know as much as the next guy that controlling Brad Wong in battle is one of the most engrossing experiences in gaming, but that's no reason to shut out a great 2D fighter when you see one. It's called multitasking, bro!
Upon completing Chapter 1 of The Raven - Legacy of a Master Thief, I had mixed feelings but high hopes. This initial entry in KING Art’s ambitious point-and-click (or at least ambitiously presented) title had its fair share of problems, ranging from the mildly annoying to the torturously frustrating, but all things considered it at least had its heart in the right place.
First Wonderful 101, now Mighty No. 9 - who can keep track of these names? As much as I love Platinum Games, I gotta say that in this case I'm a bit more excited for the latter. Keiji Inafune's spiritual successor to MegaMan has been taking the community by storm, and the only thing with more momentum than the hype itself is probably the amount of money being raised by the game's Kickstarter campaign. As of this writing, its total sits at a slight $1,942,780. So... obviously I was kidding. About the slight thing.
At yesterday's Sony precursor event to the 2013 Tokyo Games Show, SEGA revealed a new exclusive game for the PlaySation Vita. Is it Sonic? Is it Virtua Fighter? Is it Crazy Taxi (ha...)? Nope, none of the above - but it is a new Phantasy Star game entitled Phantasy Star Nova.
