We don't have long to wait for the second season of CBS All Access' The Twilight Zone, which will premiere next Thursday, June 25th. The anthology series divided some critics in its first run, but was enough of a hit for CBS All Access to grant the program another block of episodes. And now, after a recent trailer, we've received a new promo starring Jordan Peele, who both executive produces and provides Rod Serling-style narration for the show.
Netflix continues to enjoy a busy summer, whether by expanding its library of titles or setting up new original series and returning seasons of shows. At times, it can be hard to round up the best new content on Netflix in any given month, especially given the speed by which the streaming giant adds it. However, Collider have reviewed the offerings for June and have identified nine of the best shows to enjoy.
It's been a busy year for the Hellraiser franchise, with a reboot movie and a HBO series both in the works. However, the future of the series could be in for big changes, as creator Clive Barker is looking to recapture the rights to his material. Similar to the ongoing Friday the 13th rights dispute, whereby an author can choose to reverse a transfer of copyright, Barker is attempting to terminate his 1986 transfer and reclaim what has been a lucrative franchise.
Already winning critical praise, Spike Lee's Da 5 Bloods, his Vietnam-set movie that debuted on Netflix this weekend, almost didn't happen. According to the director, the major Hollywood studios were reluctant to take on a film with charged racial and historical subject matter, despite the recent success of Lee's BlacKkKlansman.
Although we still have quite a long wait for new episodes of the main Doctor Who series, there's been plenty of new content to enjoy during the lockdown, including an ambitious multi-platform event. The Big Finish audio line is now set to achieve a landmark though by casting its first openly transgender companion for the Doctor, to be played by Rebecca Root as part of an adventure involving Paul McGann's Eighth Doctor.
Disneyland's closure back in March was one of the first major signs that coronavirus was going to have a lasting impact on the entertainment industry. The Anaheim park's closure was only its fourth since opening, and also included the shuttering of Disney California Adventure in a strategy that was extended to Disney's other properties, too. Having previously announced that its Orlando parks will reopen from July 11th, The Walt Disney Company have now revealed a staggered plan to open up Disneyland between July 9th and July 23rd.
One of the most surprisingly long-lived franchises, Children of the Corn will soon have its eleventh entry. The series that began with a 1984 Stephen King short story adaptation became a direct-to-video mainstay in the 1990s under Dimension Films, and has more recently received a Syfy remake, and 2018's Children of the Corn: Runaway. We now know that the latest instalment, again just titled Children of the Corn, has wrapped its challenging production, with cast and plot details also now being revealed.
Ever since he was announced as the new Bruce Wayne, Robert Pattinson has had to field many unwelcome comments about his unsuitability for the role, including his physique. While other actors have variously bulked up or relied on the Batsuit, Pattinson has come in for increased scrutiny, most likely from those who were against his casting in The Batman from the beginning. However important it may be, it does seem that Pattinson is keeping up his fitness during the lockdown.
A new entry in the Evil Dead franchise has been on the cards for some time and it appeared that Sam Raimi had hand-picked the director to take on the movie back in October. It's perhaps surprising, then, that we're only now getting confirmation of who that filmmaker will be, and it's certainly not anyone who you would've guessed.
It's a difficult and anxious time for the United States and the world right now, and the Black Lives Matter protests represent an inevitable boiling point for inequality. Over the last few weeks, many celebrities and other public figures have pledged their support for the movement, including Mark Wahlberg. However, some people have brought up the actor's own history of hate crimes to claim that he should be "cancelled."
