We've had some excellent special editions of Hellraiser from Arrow Video, including recent Blu-rays of the original 1987 Clive Barker-directed movie and its first sequel. The genre specialist distributor are now following this up with a limited edition steelbook of the whole Hellraiser trilogy, which follows on from "The Scarlet Box" special collection they put out in 2016. We'll be able to get our hands on the latest collection in January 2020, as well as the chance to claim one of 500 Pinhead statuettes that come with the Blu-ray set.
We're pretty excited about the news coming out of the Thor: Love and Thunder camp, with Chris Hemsworth indicating that the movie will bring something new to the MCU. Due out in 2021, the Taika Waititi film has certainly boiled up some debate online for making Natalie Portman's Jane Foster the new Thor, and putting Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie in charge of New Asgard. The latest we're hearing from our sources is that we could be getting Amora the Enchantress as a villain in the movie, with Jennifer Lawrence on the list to play her.
2012's John Carter has gone down in history as a misfire for Disney, who banked on Pixar's Andrew Stanton to deliver the goods with his first live-action movie. The result was a flop, and a major blow to the star credentials of lead Taylor Kitsch. Seven years on, though, and John Carter has built a cult following, with Kitsch defending the film as being better than originally given credit for. Furthermore, he's pointed to Netflix's streaming of the movie as a key reason for why audiences are now finding the picture.
We don't have long to wait until Star Trek: Picard, which will pick up the story of Patrick Stewart's character after retiring from Starfleet in the aftermath of a life-changing mission. So far, we know that the series is going to provide a lot of surprises for Star Trek fans, while also bringing back some fan-favorite characters. The comic prequel Star Trek: Picard - Countdown #1 has now provided a tease though of who the new captain of the USS Enterprise is after Picard's tenure.
We only have a week or so to go until the first part of the Arrowverse's much-anticipated "Crisis on Infinite Earths" event. Although we don't know all the cameos in the crossover episodes, it's been confirmed that Black Lightning star Cress Williams will play a key role in the proceedings. From what we've seen so far, Jefferson Pierce will be turning up in The Flash episode of "Crisis," and unlike some other characters, he won't be relegated to a brief cameo.
Mike Flanagan, whose Doctor Sleep represents one of the best Stephen King movies of recent years, has been discussing his ideas for taking on various franchises. We've already looked at how the director could tackle A Nightmare on Elm Street, which is taking new pitches, but it seems that Flanagan also has his eye on another classic film series. When interviewed by Bloody Disgusting, Flanagan revealed his idea for a new Halloween movie, and it sounds pretty compelling.
We don't have long to wait until the premiere of the much-anticipated "Crisis on Infinite Earths", and it's fair to say we're pretty excited. A new trailer, and glimpses of the plot and behind-the-scenes action for the Arrowverse event mean we have a fairly good idea of what to expect, although there'll likely be more surprises to come. One of the most significant parts of the "Crisis" involves long-time Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy appearing as the Kingdom Come Bruce Wayne. While we've recently seen some photos of Conroy in action, the actor has now discussed his experiences switching from animation to live-action.
A long-running legal dispute over the Friday the 13th franchise could finally be resolved next year after the announcement of an appeals date. We haven't seen a new entry in the series since the reboot in 2009, with recent attempts at production complicated by who owns which rights to the brand name and characters. However, according to Bloody Disgusting, we may see a major legal decision in 2020 that could ease the way to another trip to Camp Crystal Lake.
It's been a busy week for Doctor Who fans, with the debut of a new season trailer (available above) and a lot more detail coming out regarding the monsters, character development and other changes in store for the Doctor in the new run. Amidst all of this, though, Chris Chibnall has had to consistently downplay rumors that he's leaving the show after his second year, and has now confirmed he's on board for season 13. Indeed, Chibnall is already working on the next run of the series, so don't expect a new showrunner any time soon.
