The wave of movies and television shows based on Stephen King properties shows no sign of ending, and it seems that this'll include even more reboots as after Pet Sematary back in the spring, we could now be getting a new version of The Running Man. The 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger vehicle represented a loose adaptation of King's original book, which was written under his pseudonym of Richard Bachman, and according to sources close to We Got This Covered - the same ones who told us the leads in Ghostbusters 3 would be young teens, and that Jonah Hill would be starring in The Batman - a remake is now in the early stages development.
The announcement of a new entry in The Matrix franchise has been followed by some positive words from Keanu Reeves, as well as rumors of a younger version of Neo appearing in the movie. While the news seemed to imply that Zak Penn's Matrix movie was no longer on the cards, it's now been confirmed that we'll be getting two separate Matrix films from Warner Bros. Penn has been working on a new Matrix property for several years, and took to social media today to clarify where things are with his and the Wachowskis' projects.
One of the more exciting stories in the run-up to the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover event this fall has been the on-set photos of different Supermen. Just this week we've seen Tyler Hoechlin and Brandon Routh suit up, as well as Hoechlin with Tom Welling's version of the character. Brandon Routh has now revealed that he'll be appearing as Clark Kent in the Arrowverse event, and that the reporter has had a major promotion at the Daily Planet.
One of the key questions surrounding the new MCU take on the X-Men franchise is who Disney will cast in the key roles. We've already seen various reports of actors up for parts like Professor X and Magneto, to name a few, and now it appears that we're closer to getting news of Cyclops' casting.
The upcoming She-Hulk show for Disney Plus is already building a lot of buzz, thanks to the fact that Mark Ruffalo will reportedly be making an appearance alongside his female counterpart. But that's not all, as according to our sources - the same ones who told us about the series way back in April before Marvel officially announced it - Grey Hulk will be part of the show, too. If this turns out to be true, and there's no reason it wouldn't given that these are also the same sources who told us the studio was doing a Ms. Marvel series before it was revealed at D23, then we could be seeing a range of different gamma-induced Hulks roaming the screen when She-Hulk eventually arrives on the streaming service.
This year's Pet Sematary reboot was arguably something that fans weren't pushing for, given the quality of the original 1989 adaptation of Stephen King's book. The final product was reasonably well-received, including feedback from King was that he was pleased with the movie, despite pitching a happier ending. We may even see a follow-up, most likely a prequel, although nothing's been confirmed yet. However, it now seems that Pet Sematary may have been driven by Paramount wanting to keep the rights to the property before their contract expired.
The first season of Hulu's Castle Rock was something of a mixed bag, with some excellent episodes let down by an arguably muddled ending. The second year of the series, which combines Stephen King mythology in new ways, will focus on Annie Wilkes (Lizzy Caplan) arriving in Castle Rock and apparently bringing a whole lot of trouble with her. Hulu have now released a full trailer that shows off Wilkes' various attributes, while also giving us a glimpse at the season's doubling down on actors with past King roles, as well as some familiar locations.
Dwayne Johnson's relationship to the Fast & Furious franchise has been affected in recent years by reported feuds with Vin Diesel. Johnson moved to his own stand-alone movie with Hobbs & Shaw, amidst ongoing tensions with other cast members. It now seems that this disagreement has eased, after Johnson posted a message thanking Diesel for his support of Hobbs & Shaw a few days. Our source, the same one who let us know about Ryan Reynolds and Kevin Hart's cameos in Hobbs & Shaw, and Keanu Reeves' cut role, has now revealed that Johnson will be back for Fast & Furious 10.
The relationship of Star Trek: Discovery to the universe's canon has been somewhat changeable over the last few years, particularly since bringing in Spock and more familiar elements of the series. The time jump at the end of season 2 solved continuity issues by placing the Discovery 930 years into the future, namely the 32nd century and the year 3187. And although we're still waiting for specifics, it appears that season 3 of the CBS All Access show will explore what's happened to the Federation in this period.
Based on the details Christopher Eccleston has been revealing in recent weeks about his relationship to Doctor Who, we could have seen his Ninth Doctor play a part in the show's 50th anniversary episode. We already know why Eccleston chose not to reprise his one-season role in the event, which instead cast John Hurt as the War Doctor alongside David Tennant, Matt Smith, and (briefly) Tom Baker. But how exactly Eccleston would have fitted into the story has now been put together by Screen Rant, based on comments by former showrunner Steven Moffat.
