While Stranger Things has worn its Stephen King influences on its sleeve since its launch, a new theory considers whether the series shares a universe with the author's It. According to ScreenRant, a direct link might come through Sean Astin's character Bob Newby. This connection's based on a conversation between Bob and Will in season 2, whereby Astin's character describes a traumatic encounter with a clown called Mr. Baldo at a county fair in his youth.
Likely representing some people's worst nightmare, an army of Child's Play super fans used an advance screening of the horror reboot to turn out in full costume as the evil doll. Bloody Disgusting were at the event, and shared some photos of what was, at best, a truly surreal experience for all involved. The screening at the Alamo Drafthouse in Texas was intended by Orion Pictures as a "Chucky Only" event, which is probably for the best for anyone not in costume.
As any loyal Star Trek fan will know, June 16th is Captain Picard Day, a celebration of all things Jean-Luc. The idea came from the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "The Pegasus", wherein Captain Picard receives tributes from the children of the Enterprise. Annabelle Comes Home, the latest in The Conjuring franchise, is only a few weeks away from its June 26th release date and a new clip dropped online this week from the Gary Dauberman-directed horror film shows the titular doll's malevolent effect on the world around her, as Ed and Lorraine Warren narrowly escape death.
The perhaps unfairly maligned Dark Phoenix has suffered a number of ignoble landmarks since its release. As well as taking a critical drubbing, the X-Men movie will reportedly leave a $100 million hole in studio 20th Century Fox's balance sheet. The pic's box office disaster is a shame, as while Dark Phoenix is flawed, it's far from a complete train wreck. Swamp Thing executive producer James Wan has joined the chorus of voices criticizing the early cancellation of the DC Universe show. While there are fan campaigns aiming to reverse the decision, the apparent financial mess the production found itself in has likely ruled this out.
