A new book by Kristin Baver, Skywalker: Family at War, is questioning whether or not Anakin Skywalker was the Chosen One, a being destined to bring balance to the Force, by digging into the main players in the Star Wars saga, as well as the interpretation of prophecy.
Disney Plus continues to have a strong year, building its subscriber base and seeing widespread acclaim for WandaVision. With its latest MCU hit, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, also doing well, it's perhaps no surprise that confidence is high for the streamer and to mark the beginning of April, D+ is adding a large number of new titles, including some Star Wars classics and several high-profile movies from its back catalogue.
Things haven't been going too well for Joss Whedon recently, as increasing behind-the-scenes stories and criticism have reportedly led to him being blacklisted in Hollywood. The release of Zack Snyder's Justice League edit has only highlighted the strained on-set relationships of the theatrical cut, too, while the writer-director left upcoming series The Nevers before post-production had been completed. Now, insider Daniel Richtman is claiming that Whedon will not be involved in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot, either.
Since arriving last week, Zack Snyder's cut of Justice League has mostly met expectations of what the re-edit could accomplish, even if it seems that there won't be continuing stories in that particular version of the DCEU. And after releasing a short featurette about the production a few days ago, HBO Max has now made Justice League: Justice Is Gray available to stream on the platform.
Reactions to the long-awaited premiere of Zack Snyder's Justice League have been pretty positive, with audiences and critics appreciating the additional depth brought to the story by the director, as well as some improved stylistic choices. HBO Max are clearly pleased with Snyder's efforts, too, and are reportedly keen to tie him down to an exclusive deal (if Netflix doesn't get there first). Those wanting more insight into the production, however, can now check out a behind-the-scenes featurette that can be seen up above.
Another week, and another busy time for Netflix, who are putting out sixteen new movies and television shows over the next few days. Notable highlights include The Irregulars, a series set within the world of Sherlock Holmes, as well as the Eric Andre-starring original comedy film Bad Trip. These, and other titles, make up a typically strong schedule for the online giant as they face continued competition from Disney Plus and HBO Max.
Although its planned 2020 launch was pushed back by COVID-19, Terrifier 2 is now expected to arrive sometime in the near future. In the last year, we've received a trailer and some suitably gory images to tease the return of Art the Clown, and writer-director Damien Leone has recently noted that the sequel will run for approximately two hours in length.
It's been a busy week for Zack Snyder, with the long-awaited premiere of his Justice League cut happening yesterday. Fans are already praising the release as vindication of the push for getting the Snyder Cut out, and it now seems that the filmmaker is being eyed for exclusive deals by both Netflix and HBO Max.
It's been a long wait for fans of Sherlock, with hopes for a fifth season lingering over the four years since the fourth run ended. Benedict Cumberbatch has recently commented on talk of a return for the series, with it still seeming to be a possibility, albeit if his busy schedule can be organized to fit in shooting. And co-star Martin Freeman has now added his thoughts on the subject, and looks to be in agreement with his fellow actor.
