We're coming to get you...Jill? That line was almost a reality in the late 1990s when George Romero, master of all things zombified, was tapped by Capcom execs to transition the hit survival horror video game series Resident Evil onto the silver screen as writer and director. However, the project ultimately fell into the hands of one Paul W.S. Anderson after Romero was fired from the pic, and what we got in 2002 was a far cry from what fans were expecting. But why was one of Hollywood's masters of horror fired? Well, it's actually pretty simple.
Do you smell what the DCEU is cooking? Do you kids even remember that catchphrase? Probably not, but I guess it doesn't matter, since Mr. Dwayne Johnson will certainly be spouting new, possibly mean-spirited, zingers as Black Adam whenever it comes out. Actually, he told us, in a big ol' Instagram post today just when we'll get to see the titular antihero in action: December 22nd, 2021.
Ey, weary traveller. You up for a quick round of Gwent? Perhaps we could go clear out the werewolf's den through the dark forest? I mean, you're a The Witcher, right? You look just like Henry Cavill, star of the upcoming Netflix series! I actually just heard some good news for you, Witcher: your show just got picked up for a second season, over a month before the first one even debuts! That's some good luck you've got there.
Time stone, schime stone; nothing can stop vampires! Not even Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, as I believe they lack garlic in timeless voids created by widowed witches. While Benedict Cabbagepatch's next becaped tussle with forces beyond our imaginations is still a whiles away, Marvel is hard at work bringing it to life. Or undead life, whatever vampires are. Why am I talking vamps so much? Becuase Dracula himself is slated to be a sub-villain in Doc's next adventure.
As I mentioned before, in a different article today, I can't afford Disney Plus right now. A bar downtown is showing off The Mandalorian for free tonight, so I might just check that out. You know what else is free, though? Clips on Twitter, baby! Disney Plus has an Expanding the Universe featurette within the service, and that shows off some clips from the upcoming Marvel's What If...? series, which, up until now, has maintained some amounts of secrecy. Now, though, some good footage is out for all to see.
"Ches ko ba tuta creesta crenko ya kolska," some might say of the launch of Disney Plus. Oh, sorry, in common, that Huttese translates to "I've been looking forward to this for a long time." Finally, all those Star Wars are available for streaming! Those of you wondering what versions of the original trilogy the House of Mouse would put up for us has been answered, and, unfortunately, they seem to be changed even further.
It's been almost half a year now since the Russo brothers brought everything together in Avengers: Endgame, somehow finishing a decade's worth of work not with a whimper, but a snap. It all coalesced well enough (if you don't stop to think about it): Tony Stark came full circle as Iron Man, saved the universe(s) in a selfless act of true heroism and learned a bit about power. However, one of the earlier drafts of the story had someone else taking that metaphorical bullet.
Hey, have you checked on your pumpkins lately? How are they looking? Halloween season may be over, but we're still getting spooky news well over a week later. That's right, living ghoul Dan Aykroyd confirmed that himself, Bill Murray, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts will all be back in Ghostbusters 3, playing their original characters once again.
Grease your blade with griffin blood and equip your cantrips, because we're a little over a month away from seeing Henry Cavill's butt when The Witcher debuts on Netflix on December 20th. The game series is well regarded for its storytelling and spooky fantasy setting, filled with monsters, mystical creatures and ghosts of aborted babies (that's not a joke). So, how is the show going to coalesce all of these influences into one coherent vision? By adjusting the tone a bit.
