There are a lot of reasons to be excited about Suicide Squad, but Jared Leto's take on The Joker has to be somewhere near the top of that list. After all, the Oscar winning actor looks set to deliver a very unique take on the Clown Prince of Crime in the movie, something which is evident from the fact he went method during shooting.
It seems to be a day of good news for long-gestating adaptations in Hollywood. Earlier this morning we reported that Justin Lin was being eyed by Warner Bros. to take the helm of Akira, and now it appears as if Sony is looking to get one of their projects out of development hell as well, with news that Kellan Lutz is in talks with the studio to take the lead role in Masters of the Universe.
It wasn't perfect, but for the most part, the first season of Legends of Tomorrow exceeded expectations. Going on a trip through time with characters like Rip Hunter, The Atom, and Hawkgirl proved to be a lot of fun, while The CW giving the Arrow/The Flash spinoff plenty of money to play with ensured that it always impressed visually.
If recent rumors are to be believed, then 20th Century Fox might be considering teaming up with Marvel for some kind of crossover film, likely between the X-Men and The Avengers.
Despite simmering in development hell for what seems like forever now, it looks like Warner Bros. still wants to get their live-action Akira adaptation off the ground at some point. Numerous directors have been attached to helm over the past few years, including Jaume Collet-Serra, Gary Whitta and Albert Hughes, but now we're hearing that the studio has someone else in their sights.
Thor: Ragnarok starts shooting on Australia's Gold Coast on July 4th, and production there is expected to last until October. It's a big movie though (especially as it will be attempting to find a balance between the God of Thunder's story and a loose adaptation of Planet Hulk), so it makes sense that the Marvel Studios release will shoot in a big country!
After a fourth season which started off strong but quickly fell apart, the pressure is on Arrow this Fall to deliver. With a number of recent casting additions and a big bad who doesn't hail from the comic books, season five definitely feels a little different, but the biggest change could come from Oliver Queen's attitude.
With the release of Suicide Squad drawing closer, some of the film's cast are starting to make the press rounds. Jared Leto, who of course plays The Joker in David Ayer's upcoming DC Comics adaptation, recently spoke with Deadline about his highly-anticipated role, and had nothing but good things to say about both the movie and the character in general.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is both a prequel to A New Hope and a sequel of sorts to Revenge of the Sith. It will feature a character from The Clone Wars and reveals how the Rebels got their hands on the Death Star plans, so you can see how director Gareth Edwards is clearly walking a fine line between both building on what's come before and what's yet to happen.
Before they decided to helm that Han Solo movie for Lucasfilm, Phil Lord and Chris Miller were being eyed by Warner Bros. to direct The Flash movie. Instead, they ended up just writing a treatment which Seth Grahame-Smith based his screenplay on, and the filmmakers have nothing but good things to say about the studio's decision to hire Dope's Rick Famuyima.
