Are you excited to go back to the big pretty planet known as Pandora, populated by large blue cat people? ARE YOU? Whether you are or not, you better start getting prepared, because Zoe Saldana has pretty much confirmed that the two Avatar sequels (entitled, thus far, Avatar 2 and Avatar 3) are going to start shooting in 2014.
In case you missed it – and really, it has not been publicized that much – JJ Abrams is coming up with a sequel to the little-seen indie feature Star Trek. This one is entitled Star Trek Into Darkness. All the art-house buffs are very excited about it.
Remember that movie The Hangover? It was all kinds of funny, about a bachelor party gone horribly wrong? There was Mike Tyson and a tiger and Zach Galifianakis and everyone laughed and there was joy and dancing in the streets? Remember that?
Like just about everyone, I have many mixed feelings about James Franco. One of those feelings is wondering just how he can write, direct, and star in everything he comes into contact with. What has he taken on now? Directing an adaptation of The Garden Of Last Days. Who does he have to star in it? Emilia Clarke, best known as Daenerys Targaryen on Game Of Thrones.
When I saw that Roland Emmerich, the man who has nearly destroyed the world several times (Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow, 2012) and my soul at least once (Anonymous) had made a movie about terrorists or some-such taking over the White House, I was not particularly optimistic. Nor did the first White House Down trailer give me much cause for hope. But then the second trailer came along and I’m … I’m a little excited.
Well, now this is something I do not recall hearing about before, and I’m usually pretty up on my Robert Downey Jr. news. The star has apparently been in talks to play Geppetto in a (presumably) live-action version of Pinocchio. Now his good friend and Tropic Thunder director/co-star Ben Stiller is reportedly looking into helming Pinocchio. This just got a whole lot more interesting.
Listen to me. I love Johnny Depp. I loved him before it was cool to love him. I’m a total hipster for Johnny Depp. So it continues to pain me to say: WTF, Johnny? WTF?
You know what’s a great idea? To return to an island apparently overrun by massive creatures who have a taste for human flesh and running amok in kitchens. At least, that must be the thinking behind whatever crew of humans are deciding to return to the original island in Jurassic Park 4.
Oh, Keanu Reeves. People make fun of you, but I really do enjoy everything about you, including your inability to emote. Luckily, Mr. Reeves will not have to emote much in Bill & Ted 3 – he’ll just have to be lovely and lost and tubular. Gnarly, if you will.
I know that you have all been longing for some Transformers 4 news. I can see it in your eyes. Well, here it is: Kelsey Grammer has been cast as the villain in the Michael Bay robotic extravaganza. Touche, Mr. Bay. Touche.
