Just when you thought that Marvel might start to take their foot off the pedal in regards to the exhaustive marketing campaign for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2., it seems that they're doing just the opposite, sending the promotional blitz into overdrive as we quickly approach the film's May 5th release date.
After releasing a brief teaser earlier this morning that placed the focus on Aquaman, a new Justice League promo has debuted and it shifts the spotlight to Ben Affleck's Batman. At only 16 seconds in length, there's not a whole lot that we get to see, but what's here is pretty badass, as the preview shows off the Caped Crusader's new and improved Batmobile along with a shot of him behind the wheel. Throw in some cheesy rock music and you've got a tantalizing tease for this Saturday's full trailer.
Well, it looks like the promotional campaign for Zack Snyder's Justice League has officially kicked off. Earlier this morning, we got a brief teaser to help build hype for this weekend's full trailer, followed by a brand new poster for the tentpole. Now, as if all that wasn't enough, Warner Bros. has debuted yet another group shot for the flick. Seen above, it features Batman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, the Flash and Aquaman. Noticeable by his absence, however, is the Big Blue Boy Scout.
Leave it to Chris Pratt to hype the hell out of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, right? Not that the sequel needs anymore attention, mind you. Marvel's marketing campaign has been extensive and quite enjoyable, and at this point, just about everyone knows that those A-holes are set to return in May with a film that's bigger and quite possibly better than what came before. But just in case, you know, you had any doubts about that, Mr. Pratt is here to remedy things.
Deadpool obviously had a big hand in revitalizing the R-rated comic book movie trend in Hollywood, and Logan's recent success ensured that we're going to be seeing a lot more of them going forward. Now, it seems Paramount Pictures is looking to get in on the action, as Deadline reports that the studio has a big-screen adaptation of Garth Ennis, Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti's controversial graphic novel, The Pro, in the works. Erwin Stoff of 3 Arts is producing the project, while Bitches On A Boat scribe Zoe McCarthy has been hired to write the screenplay.
Sony is going all in on Spider-Man, it seems. After announcing a Venom spinoff, which most fans can't seem to get on board with, the studio has now revealed that they'll also be producing a Black Cat and Silver Sable movie. Set to feature in a film of their own, the duo will headline a feature penned by Chris Yost, who also wrote Thor: The Dark World.
Despite reports of the actor dropping out of the race early on, THR now says that Michael Shannon is the frontrunner to play time travelling mutant Cable in Deadpool 2. This news comes just after Brad Pitt's name was thrown into the mix last night, alongside former contestants Pierce Brosnan and David Harbour. From what we understand, the latter is still being considered, but at this time, Shannon is the studio's top choice.
Sunday night's installment of The Walking Dead saw Sasha and Rosita gear up and head out on their suicide mission to assassinate Negan. Though the duo reached the Saviors' compound after a few close scraps with some walkers, things didn't quite go according to plan (let's be honest, did anyone think they would?), as the pair realized that they weren't going to be able to take the villain out with a sniper shot.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story got a lot of things right, and that's certainly something that director Gareth Edwards and his team should be proud of. After all, many laughed at the idea of a spinoff based solely on a throwaway line taken from the opening crawl of the original Star Wars, doubting that such a thing could work. That, coupled with a tumultuous summer full of reshoots and studio meddling left fans fairly concerned about this first Anthology film, worrying that it'd be a disaster.
You've gotta hand it to Gareth Edwards, he managed to pull through with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and deliver a huge win for Disney. Throughout the summer, the project was plagued with one concerning news report after another, all pointing to some troubling reshoots and unwanted studio meddling. In the end, however, the first of the Anthology films turned out more than alright, and proved that this format can definitely work for the iconic franchise.
