Afternoon Delight Review
Afternoon Delight is an unfortunate film that attempts to be some emotional, revolutionary journey that depicts the hardships of a stale marriage and the struggles of one docile wife/mother desperately trying to find some sort of life saving spark. The keyword is "tries" though, because writer/director Jill Soloway completely misses the mark by introducing main character Rachel (Kathryn Hahn) to a young stripper named McKenna (Juno Temple), creating a situation in which Hahn attempts to "save" Temple from a life of stripping - and then some. But what appears to be a spiritual journey ends up being a fuitless one full of pain, suffering, and one somber revelation after the next, almost making us question why the hell we'd ever want to do anything nice for someone ever again.

Exclusive Video Interview With Eric Bana, Rebecca Hall And John Crowley On Closed Circuit
It's always exciting when talented actors and actresses can come together for a film that deals with modern day issues, but in a way that's entirely believable and grounded. When movies attempt to "Hollywood-ize" issues like terrorism and crime, the result tends to be less acceptable and unjustly overblown - even if the entertainment factor is through the roof. A film like John Crowley's Closed Circuit is absolutely not one of those indulgent and ridiculous attempts that loses sight of the actual issue it's facing, keeping characters realistic and content relatable.

You’re Next Review
What's so special about You're Next is that Barrett's story doesn't exactly re-invent the wheel of home invasion horror, throwing expected twists and turns, but it provides numerous examples on how you can utilize the genre to its greatest potential, pimping out the wheel with spinning chrome rims, flashy LED lights, and some dope valve caps. Only adding to atmosphere is Wingard's vision, showcasing abundant freshness and creativity that accentuates the typical creepiness of being watched without even knowing. What can I say, Barrett and Wingard are a horror tag team equatable to Kane and The Undertaker.

I Declare War Review
Damn Hollywood for making me think my childhood was ten times more badass than it really was, but at the same time, God bless its boundary-less ability to enhance even the most mundane activity. In the case of I Declare War, directors Jason Lapeyre and Robert Wilson turn a simple game of capture the flag into an all-out war with children toting sub-machine guns, throwing grenades, and shooting laser beams out of their eyes. Don't worry, it all makes sense as the visuals are technically just the overactive imaginations of each character. The kids aren't actually killing one another, but the presentation of true weaponry is necessary when conveying certain themes, throwing children into the dog days of war while proving their strategic game is far more than child's play.

Dead Before Dawn 3D Review
When are horror movie characters going to learn that taunting evil spirits only causes trouble? For the sake of horror movies, probably never, as Dead Before Dawn 3D continues the tradition of gathering a group of non-believing high schoolers and thrusting them into a cursed scenario. At least writer Tim Doiron and director April Mullen attempted to have fun with the genre, literally making their own horror curse off the top of their head. Know what a "Zemon" is? Ever hear of a horror monster that attacks by giving you hickies? Want to see a hot cheerleader make out with the undead? No? Too bad.

Gamers are always talking about console and PC gaming these days, but remember when you used to be able to frequent an arcade with the latest and greatest in pay-per-play machine gaming? It started with classics like Pac-Man and Donkey Kong, but has evolved into completely immersive experiences that let you do things like shoot baddies while holding a true-to-form machine gun, or paddle a raft while sitting in a mock flotation vessel that moves as you get thrown around on-screen. Amazing right? Why get wet when you can paddle in an air conditioned building?!

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost have been charming worldwide audiences since Shaun Of The Dead, but their friendship started even before that. If you haven't seen a little TV show called Spaced, which was directed by Edgar Wright as well, this geek-culture BBC series shows the trio's comedic stylings in their rawest form. Seriously, right now, it's steaming on Netflix, you have no excuse.

Killing Season Blu-Ray Review
Whoa, a film starring Robert De Niro and John Travolta - what could go wrong?! Well, a lot apparently. For one, Travolta plays a Serbian veteran from the Bosnian war, complete with a goofy accent and all. Seriously. Why not just get someone who actually has the accent, not the dude best known for his dance moves? Eh, that isn't even the biggest problem though, as Killing Season takes a decent concept, a killer cast, and some pretty brutal effects, but squanders them all. This script must have been damn near flawless on paper, because I haven't a single clue how either of these A-List celebrities got involved.

Fanboys were ecstatic, haters laughed at another first-person horror idea, but the buzz was undeniable surrounding Peli, who single-handedly turned an entire sub-genre on its head - and demolished all competitors in his path.

Hell Baby Review
Bringing their own brand of slapstick, "immature" comedy, Lennon and Garant have created a horror comedy in Hell Baby that throws any real terror out the window, but it's kind of refreshing in a way. Movies like Rapture-Palooza have tried said approach already this year, but faltered thanks to weak interpretations and lame adaptations of horror elements. Hell Baby, while focusing on comedy completely, is still able to properly poke fun at typical horror norms, succeeding not only as a consistently laugh-inducing comedy, but also as a witty horror comedy. Lennon and Garant are in proper form, and I can gladly accept their entry into my favorite genre with opened, appreciative arms.
