Given the quality of content on the small screen over the past few years, it's no wonder that many consider this to be a golden age for television. But few (if any) television shows boast the epic, politically-charged scope of HBO's award-winning Game of Thrones. And in order to take the scope to the next level, the network has announced a partnership with IMAX Entertainment that will not only see two episodes from Season Four screened in the format, but also the full-length trailer for the hotly-anticipated Season Five.
Post-Batman Begins, Hollywood studios took up a particularly liking to Christopher Nolan's approach to the superhero genre. So much so, in fact, that phrases such as "gritty" and "grounded" became overused buzzwords as seemingly every creative thinker in the mainstream space made strives for realism. Taking the fantastical and making it accessible is undoubtedly a remarkable achievement, particular in relation to The Caped Crusader and his wacky cinematic past, but according to Kingsman: The Secret Service helmer Matthew Vaughn, that fascination with Nolan's "very dark, very bleak style" has passed.
Like it or lump it, 2015 is here in earnest and retail analyst Chart-Track has revealed the very first UK all-formats chart for the year -- mind you, it isn't too far removed from what we left with at the end of 2014.
Ever since Disney served up our first look at Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the Internet at large took to dissecting each and every frame of the 88-second long teaser in order to cherry pick every snippet of information possible. If the history of cinema, video games, or any other creative medium for that matter has taught us anything over the years, it's that dead things should really stay dead. But no matter how grisly the outcome, the premise still serves as a rich reserve for filmmakers across Hollywood, including producer Jason Blum who is currently shepherding his latest low-key project, The Lazarus Effect, through development.
Cast one eye over Samuel L. Jackson's long and celebrated résumé and you'll soon find that, even though the actor has starred in some of the best films ever made -- Pulp Fiction, in particular -- there are some critical duds that somewhat balance the scale. Films such as Snakes on a Plane and Deep Blue Sea are widely panned, yet still managed to carve out an audience thanks to their bizarre plot and yet more bizarre dialogue. And going off of the first trailer for Big Game, the Finnish film could join that, er, echelon.
We're still a ways away before Benedict Cumberbatch enters the Marvel foray, thereby helping to kick off Phase Three within the MCU. But given that we live in a world where teasers trailers for teaser trailers exist, it's seemingly never too soon to begin dissecting each and every one of the superhero tidbits that find their way online. And today, that tidbit centers around one Doctor Strange.
Relativity Media's Jane looks to not only have gotten a gun, but also her act together after the studio released the first images from the long-gestating western.
