Though the Super Bowl is mainly about the football game, it's also a tremendous advertising opportunity. For years, movie studios have snuck 30-second advertisements for their hottest (and not-so-hottest) properties between the multi-million dollar game. But television is now ready to compete with the big boys. Netflix announced earlier today that they'll show their first Stranger Things season 2 trailer during the game and now, Hulu has unveiled the Super Bowl teaser for The Handmaid's Tale, their warmly-anticipated Margaret Atwood adaptation of the same name.
We're a little more than a month away now from Disney's live-action Beauty and the Beast. It's a tale as old as time, after all, and what harm comes from telling it again? Fans can rest assured knowing that there are more than a few elements from the classic 1992 animated film that'll appear in this new version and that includes the iconic title song, which is redone by John Legend and Ariana Grande. How does it compare to the original, though? Well, you can judge for yourself by checking it out above.
In the DC universe, Mark Hamill is best known for his iconic voice performance as the Joker. But the actor is ready to branch out a little bit. On the newest episode of Cartoon Network's Justice League Action, Hamill embodies a different comic book character altogether: Swamp Thing. If you're wondering how his version of the green character compares to the one he helped immortalize, you won't have to wait long - a new clip from the episode was just released and you can watch it up above.
Horror movies release all throughout the year. In January we got Split, today brought with it Rings (which you should probably avoid), next week we'll get A Cure For Wellness, followed by Jordan Peele's Get Out later this month and so on and so forth. They're not hard to find, but only a few make a lasting impression. Whether or not The Blackcoat's Daughter, which arrives in two weeks, scares us silly or leaves us wholly unimpressed is yet to be determined, but it did debut a promising new trailer earlier today which has us feeling hopeful.
Few expected Stranger Things to be the phenomenon that it was over the summer. The Netflix original series — which fused together Steven Spielberg, Stephen King and John Carpenter, among other influences — was both a critical darling and a cultural obsession since the day it premiered, and it hasn't slowed down in popularity since. The second season can't come soon enough for many antsy viewers, and thankfully, they won't have to wait long. It's set to premiere later this year on the streaming site and understandably, Netflix is planning to promote it hard.
There's been a lot of promotional material dropped on us lately for this month's The LEGO Batman Movie, but for some reason, The LEGO Ninjago Movie hasn't gotten the same fanfare. Beyond a short film released before last fall's Storks, we've seen next to nothing from the upcoming animated release, but that'll change in the near future. A trailer is expected soon (likely before The LEGO Batman Movie) and now, we've got one of our first stills from the flick, which puts the villain on prominent display.
As a hero, the Flash is unstoppable. But what if he finds a villain that's... untouchable? That's the basis behind the appropriately-titled "Untouchable," the upcoming episode of The CW's show which finds the titular speedster pitted against Clive Yorkin, an abnormal man with the ability to spread death with even the smallest touch, as seen in these newest stills ahead of Tuesday's episode.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story entered theaters over the month ago, yet the impact of its gigantic release is still being felt even now. If you go to your local multiplex, there's a good chance it's still playing. If you visit your local pub, you might still engage in a conversation about it, favorable or otherwise.
Personal Shopper reunites Kristen Stewart with director Olivier Assayas, the filmmaker behind what might be Stewart's best performance yet in Clouds of Sils Maria. Their second film together wasn't quite as well-received, however, when it premiered at Cannes last summer, earning as many boos and jeers as it received acclaim. The polarizing horror-drama had trouble entering theaters after such a divisive response, but it'll make its way into them soon. After an extended festival run, it's finally coming out this spring and to celebrate its impending release, IFC Films has released a brand new trailer.
It's surreal to know we're getting a Captain Underpants movie later this year. At least, it is for me. As a child who once obsessed over Dav Pilkey's gleefully juvenile book series, it swells my old(er) heart to know we're finally going to see these wacky, zany characters make their way onto the screen. While we're heard little about the project thus far, DreamWorks Animation will soon ring out their promotional bandwagon, starting with today's first poster, which might remind you of another superhero, one who'll also get his own animated movie later this month....
