2003 comes to haunt David Beckham as the former soccer star is hospitalized

Meanwhile, the alleged mutiny between him and his son continues.

David Beckham gave his fans a big scare when his wife revealed the former soccer was hospitalized to undergo a painful procedure.

He was recently admitted to the hospital for surgery to fix an injury he sustained all the way back in his playing days. The English star player was substituted out in a friendly win against South Africa in 2003 in the final minute after sustaining a gnarly injury on his wrist. A later X-ray revealed that the Inter Miami CF owner had a fracture, and he was immediately put under the knife.

But eckham is probably one of the most fascinating Englishmen alive, and you could probably have guessed that his path to recovery wouldn’t just end there. Apparently, a screw from that original surgery didn’t dissolve properly and has just been dislodged in his wrist for 22 years, causing him discomfort.

The Premier League Hall of Famer finally got admitted to the hospital. According to Page Six, Victoria Beckham posted a picture of her husband in the hospital with a sling around his arm and a Taylor Swift-esque bracelet that read “Get Well Soon.” A good show of support, especially since Beckham’s domestic life hasn’t recently been all that harmonious.

But it hasn’t been all negatives that he has carried on from his illustrious career. David Beckham was recently added to King Charles’ list of honorees who are scheduled to be knighted. Beckham, specifically, will be knighted for his contributions to sports and entertainment. A long time coming for the star — soon it’ll be Sir David for all you commoners out there.

And as for his relationship with son Brooklyn Beckham — apparently, the knighting at least went to build one pillar toward the two fixing their relationship. A source who is close to Brooklyn reportedly said that he was happy for his father for the honor because he is aware of how important the recognition ultimately was to him. Although he made sure to add that they’re still not talking.

Whenever athletes are asked about their careers after they retire, the first thing they’ll always say is how they miss the buzz and the stakes where every year could end up with a trophy. But if you dig a little deeper, there’s always a story similar to Beckham’s, revealing how much of a toll their chosen sport took on their bodies. Surgeries 20 years after an injury are not all that uncommon. As we enjoy these people’s performances, we should always keep in mind just how much it takes to reach that level of performance.

Right now, David Beckham can mostly be found in the VIP seats, watching his soccer team Inter Miami CF with Lionel Messi play their games in the ongoing Club World Cup across America. Victoria Beckham gave an update that soon-to-be Sir David is having a splendid time recovering at home with his candy of choice. A better time to spoil yourself as any.

His team will need all the support they can get from the sidelines as their next knockout game is against PSG, who are the reigning European champions and favorites to win the entire tournament. Even with Messi, that’s quite a mountain to climb.
