The Star Wars star posted a tweet on Twitter, where he showed support for the president’s visit and reminded everyone that the US will stand with Ukraine against Russia’s ongoing invasion. This isn’t the first time Hamill showed support for Ukraine on social media. When Time Magazine declared Zelensky as 2022’s ‘Person of the Year,’ Hamill used this opportunity to remind everyone to stand with Ukraine.

In addition to his support for the president’s visit, Hamill joined forces with UNITED24, the official fundraising platform of Ukraine, and announced a raffle for a chance to earn signed Star Wars x Ukraine-themed posters. According to Hamill, these posters are not just Star Wars memorabilia but also a reminder of good vs. evil.

“We decided to raffle a limited number of Star Wars posters among the most hardcore fans, collectors and everyone willing to help Ukraine. Each poster isn’t just a piece of memorabilia, but also a reminder that the fight between good and evil exists not only in the movies. Everyone who donates to a reconnaissance drone for Ukrainian defenders will be able to win a collectible poster commemorating their own contribution to Ukraine’s victory over the real empire,”

Asides from Hamill, actor George Takei has also shown support for Biden’s visit to the country, saying that he’s “proud and grateful” that the US continues its support for Ukraine. Meanwhile, Sean Penn gave Zelensky his Oscar trophy for him to keep until Ukraine declares victory. And horror author, Stephen King, has also voiced his support for the president’s visit. However, others like Kevin Sorbo tried to make a joke out of the situation on social media.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine started nearly a year ago, back on Feb, 24. 2022. Since then, the US, along with Australia, and other countries in Europe, has been providing military aid in order to help Ukraine defend itself from Russia’s forces. This visit marks the first time the US president visited the country since Russia’s invasion began, and Biden was met with both support and criticism.

During Biden’s visit, both presidents visited the St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Monastery, where they laid flowers for those who died during the invasion. Biden spoke during his time in the country, saying that the US will stand with Ukraine for “as long as it takes.”

Don’t expect Biden to visit Russia anytime soon. Russian President, Vladimir Putin banned Biden and his entire family from entering the country back in 2022, along with other politicians and celebrities, due to their support for Ukraine.
