Cosmic Ghost Rider Destroys Marvel History In Comic Book Miniseries This March

In the past 24 hours or so, you've probably come across various teasers for one of Marvel Comics' first major storylines to kickoff in 2019. After all, how can your head not turn when it appears as though the Fantastic Four's origin will be retconned? Furthermore, who could possibly be powerful enough to accomplish that, bring back Spider-Man after Spider-Man No More, discover Captain America on ice before the Avengers, and save Jean Grey from the Dark Phoenix Saga?

Well, the House of Ideas didn’t waste much time in revealing the answer, as they’ve now officially announced Cosmic Ghost Rider Destroys Marvel History, a six-issue miniseries set to launch in the spring. What’s more is that the synopsis provided also reveals who’s writing the tale:

This spring, comedian and The League star Paul Scheer re-teams with Far Cry writer Nick Giovannetti (Deadpool Bi-Annual, Guardians Team-Up) for COSMIC GHOST RIDER DESTROYS MARVEL HISTORY #1: an all-new limited series, where the Cosmic Ghost Rider is stuck in the past. So what’s the Cosmic Guardian of Justice going to do? Rewrite the origins of the Marvel Universe, of course!

In case you were wondering which artists have been enlisted, know that the first piece of promo art has divulged such information. Seen below, the teaser confirms interiors will be drawn by Gerardo Sandoval, whereas covers will be provided by Gerardo Zaffino.

Based on the fact that a known comedian will co-write this book, I’m guessing that this’ll be more of a self-contained story like Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe. If indeed Cosmic Ghost Rider were pulling a Flashpoint of his own and it’d majorly affect Marvel continuity going forward, then someone like Jason Aaron or Nick Spencer would’ve been given the job.

Still, this helps in proving the popularity of the character. After having first debuted in the pages of Thanos, this warped version of Frank Castle has gone on to headline a series of his own, even teaming with Cable for a new Guardians of the Galaxy lineup. It’s cool stuff, that’s for sure.

Cosmic Ghost Rider Destroys Marvel History #1 arrives in comic shops on March 6th, 2019.
