The Dark Knight Feels The Chill In All-Star Batman #6

Even without his longtime collaborator in artist Greg Capullo, superstar scribe Scott Snyder continues to churn out incredible stories featuring the Dark Knight in the pages of All-Star Batman. With the first arc now behind us, the antagonistic focus for the next issue will be placed on one of my favorite villains, Mr. Freeze.

Freeze.

This is especially exciting because aside from an annual released a few years back, Snyder hasn’t had the opportunity to work on Freeze very much. Knowing what he’s done with baddies such as Joker, Riddler, and Two-Face though makes this all the more special.

Fans of The Black Mirror should be thrilled to know that both Jock and Francesco Francavilla contribute interiors and covers (depending on which you buy) to this issue. From the preview gallery, we see that it’s quite obvious this will be a fine piece of visual storytelling and not just because of the artwork. There’s a bit more of a prose approach to it that is somewhat reminiscent of Grant Morrison’s “The Clown at Midnight,” only a little more streamlined.

All-Star Batman #6 arrives in comic shops this Wednesday, January 11. In the meantime, be sure to check out the official synopsis below:

“Cold to the Core”! Batman travels to Alaska to confront Mr. Freeze as he attempts to extract the world’s oldest ice core and bring humanity to a new Ice Age! Powerhouse artist Jock joins Scott Snyder to bring you another of the Dark Knight’s rogues like you’ve never seen him before.
