Marvel Comics Drop Another Cryptic Tease For Spider-Man 4

As cool as it was to see Spider-Man in his black suit, battling Venom both physically and mentally, we have Spider-Man 3 to thank for Sam Raimi's fourth outing never seeing the light of day. Tobey Maguire's Spidey was supposed to go up against Mysterio and Lizard, but Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland's web-slingers have faced or will face off against them instead.

Here’s some good news for those fans who were curious to see what Spider-Man 4 would’ve looked like though: you might not have to wait much longer.

Marvel artist Alex Ross posted a teaser on his Twitter page recently. Seen below, it shows a very familiar duo from the first Spider-Man trilogy and came with the caption: #SaturdayThoughts #saturdaymorning #Saturday #spiderman movie art @salcomicbookpro.

This Tweet was from June 15th, but a deleted post from the day after had the same pic with a different caption: #SpiderMan4. Mysterious? Yes. But the events leading up to this have given fans reason to believe that Raimi’s fourth Spider-Man film isn’t quite as dead as Emo Peter Parker’s dancing career.

You see, a few hours before Ross posted his now-gone tweet, Marvel’s Twitter page threw the image below out there for folks to digest. And let me say, they didn’t delete it – yet.

All this vague tweeting has fans of the spider-bitten superhero in an uproar, but the signs seem to be pointing to one thing. Sam Raimi’s un-produced Spider-Man 4 could be coming to a comic book store near you. After all, the tweet from Ross clearly shows a pic of Kirsten Dunst’s Mary Jane Watson going for a swing and the final, cryptic clue in all this is from C.B. Cebulski, Marvel’s Editor-in-Chief, who tweeted the below reply to the picture:

Sure, Spider-Man 3 was a bust in most fans’ eyes, but despite that, we still loved Maguire’s clumsy, nerdy superhero and we’ll certainly be camping out at our local comic book store if Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 4 ever gets printed.
