Marvel Comics Teases Big Venom/Avengers Crossover

If there's anything that can be said about the big two comic book publishers, it's that they sure do love their crossover events. Really, it's not long after we finish reading one that another pops up in its place. Heck, sometimes there are even two from the same company arriving on shelves at once.

If you’re guessing that we’re here today to talk about War of the Realms, well, then you’ve assumed wrong. Instead, the discussion pertains to something we actually don’t even know what to call. All that we really know is based on a very cryptic teaser sent around by Marvel Comics to varying media outlets.

As you can see from the teaser art illustrated by Greg Land found below, it involves Venom and the Avengers. Though it could be speculated that “Everyone is a Target” is the title of the storyline itself, that sounds much more like a tagline to me. Either way, this is sure to captivate the interest of True Believers far and wide.

As showcased there, Venom himself hovers above the likes of Captain America, Captain Marvel, Spider-Man, Hulk and Hawkeye, with mysterious red tendrils ensnaring Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Based on that, it’s probably safe to say Carnage will play an antagonistic role of some sort.

At this point in time, no writer has been named for this particular crossover, though we can’t rule out current Venom scribe Donny Cates being assigned the job. Greg Land, meanwhile, could be supplying covers and/or interiors, but that’s yet to be made clear.

Fortunately, one thing’s for certain, and that’s the confirmation of this Venom/Avengers mashup arriving in comic shops this August. Stay tuned as more develops.
