X-Men: Gamemaster’s Legacy (1995)
If you were ever lucky enough to receive more than two hours of gameplay on a Sega Game Gear, you were a fortunate soul. With a horrible battery life and a charger that heated up quicker than a political discussion, it was next to impossible to really enjoy all this portable console had to offer. For the patient ones who put up with the torture though, you’re likely to have played one of the best X-Men video games on there, X-Men: Gamemaster’s Legacy.
Similar in gameplay to 1993’s Genesis-exclusive X-Men, the game presented you with the impressive choice of eight X-Men: Cyclops, Storm, Wolverine, Gambit, Rogue, Bishop, Jean Grey, and Cable. While not available all at once, once everyone’s unlocked, the fun really started.
Playing as the different mutants and using their specific abilities made for a damn-good time and endless days of replay value – a rare feat. Amazingly, for a portable title, this was action-packed, highly addictive, and contained a wide range of villains and stages, too. If only the games on the Google Play store could take note of this…
