6 Iconic Locations We’d Love To Visit In Star Wars Battlefront II

As with any revered, absurdly popular multimedia franchise, any addition to its universe, official or otherwise, is inevitably going to be met with a certain level of criticism. It is, after all, impossible to please absolutely everyone, but in the case of Star Wars, any third party that attempts to put its own spin on George Lucas' sci-fi epic has multiple generations of fans to satisfy - an already difficult task only compounded by the additional pressure of living up to the Battlefront name.

So up until now, every exotic location on this list has been given ample amount of screen time befitting their importance in Star Wars‘ ever-expanding story, but Alderaan? Nope.

In fairness, the planet’s swift destruction at the hands of Mr. Tarkin in Star Wars completely obliterated any opportunity we had of exploring its surface on-screen – without majorly breaking the laws of continuity, at least – but that doesn’t necessarily mean any potential appearance in other media is an unrealistic prospect.

Indeed, aside from the frustratingly brief shot of Leia’s adoptive father shuttling her to his home world to keep her safe from the Empire’s clutches, we learn next to nothing about its makeup on the silver screen, other than it appears to be largely alpine in nature. Thankfully, expanded universe – since rebranded as Star Wars Legends – material has filled in some of the gaps left behind by A New Hope, revealing it be a planet of immense natural beauty not dissimilar to Naboo. A crown jewel of the galaxy, if you will.

With Battlefront II‘s biggest selling point being that it mashes all eras of the franchise together for the ultimate Star Wars adventure, there’s certainly the very real possibility that it could resurrect Alderaan as a multiplayer map, but as far as narrative goes, it’ll have to remain space dust, what with the sequel’s campaign intended to take place between the events of Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.
