PlayStation 4 So Far

Sony’s first party studios have certainly taken their time delivering quality exclusive content for the PlayStation 4. Sure, we had decent launch titles such as Infamous: Second Son and Killzone: Shadowfall, but you probably wouldn’t call them must-play games.
A case could definitely be made for FromSoftware’s excellent Bloodborne though; one of last year’s standout titles, the game has amassed a huge following among those who appreciate its faster variation of Dark Souls-style combat and its gruesome, ambient aesthetic.
Bloodborne’s success can’t be understated. It was a big win for Sony, as it took the pressure off PlayStation 4’s pretty poor second half of 2015 in regards to first party content. Up until recently, it was the console’s only truly acclaimed exclusive game and its popularity is likely to spawn a franchise we’ll see in the future.
2016 promises to be a memorable one for PlayStation 4, and what a start the console has had with arguably its two best experiences launching just a month apart from each other. First we had Ratchet and Clank, which has earned both critical acclaim and the adoration of the gaming community. It’s easily one of the best titles on PS4 and its success might even pave the way for more 3D platforming games to make a comeback this generation. If you own the console, you simply owe it to yourself to play Ratchet and Clank.
Of course, we also need to tip our hats to Uncharted 4. The game has only been out for a short time but it’s already looking as though it might well be one of the best titles not just on PlayStation 4, but of this entire generation. Naughty Dog have exceeded expectations once again, redefining what video games are capable of in regards to story and presentation. It’s a fitting send-off to Nathan Drake and though we might be sad to see his story come to a close, the future for both Naughty Dog and PlayStation 4 looks very bright indeed.
