If your latest hot drop onto Battle Island looked a bit different than usual, that’s because Fortnite Season 8 has begun. Epic Games pushed their newest update live earlier this week and have decided to go with a swashbuckling pirate theme for the fresh batch of content – with suitably themed loot – and as is par for the course, completing challenges from the seasonal Battle Pass is the only way to get your hands on all the lucrative goodies.

The Week 1 challenges have been available for a few days now and included among them’s the ominous task of finding several rock-formed faces placed throughout the map as well as using the new volcano vents. All in all, none of these challenges are too difficult, but if you’re finding yourself a bit stuck, read on for a quick rundown of how to easily complete them.

Visit All Pirate Camps (0/7)

Using the map in the gallery above, this one shouldn’t be that hard to knock out. All you’ll need to do is make your way to the seven different pirate camps spread throughout the game world. You don’t need to do this in one match, either, so take your time and feel free to slowly explore the new locales as you visit each and every camp.

Search Chests at Retail Row or Junk Junction (0/7)

This one has you heading to Junk Junction and Retail Row, where all you’ll need to do is simply loot seven chests. That’s it.

Deal Damage with a Shotgun and an Explosive Weapon in a Single Match

Note that this challenge must be completed in a single match, which makes it a bit trickier. Regardless, if you find the right loot, it shouldn’t be too difficult. Shotguns are common enough that you shouldn’t have any issue grabbing one while there are plenty of explosive weapons to get your hands on, too. We suggest using a rocket launcher, though, as it’ll make things easier.

Visit A Giant Face in the Desert, Jungle, and the Snow

The new map has three giant faces spread throughout it and if you visit all three, you’ll easily knock out this challenge. The first is in the new jungle biome near Lazy Lagoon, while the second one resides in the snow biome near Happy Hamlet. Finally, the last one can be discovered in the desert biome, south of Paradise Palms. If you’d like a more detailed guide on how to get to all those places, be sure to check out our previous rundown here.

Use A Volcano Vent in Different Matches (0/5)

If you’ve visited the new volcano already – which is where Wailing Woods was – you’ll know that it has special air vents. Simply use these in at least five different matches and this challenge will be crossed off.

Get An Elimination With A Shotgun, Assault Rifle, and Explosive Weapon

Depending on how skilled you are, this one might come easy or take a little longer, but here’s the list of weapons that you can use to work on completing this challenge:

  • Pump Shotgun
  • Tactical Shotgun
  • Assault Rifle
  • Suppressed Assault Rifle
  • Thermal Scoped Assault Rifle
  • Heavy Assault Rifle
  • Scoped Assault Rifle
  • Rocket Launcher
  • Grenade Launcher

Deal Damage To A Vehicle Driven By An Opponent

With the plane now vaulted, this is going to be a bit more difficult to achieve, but your best bet is finding someone on a Driftboard and going after them with the weapon of your choice.

So, there you have it. If you’re stuck on any of the new challenges, the above information should definitely help. And with Fortnite Season 8 just getting started, you can bet that we’ll have a lot more coverage as players begin to adjust to Epic’s swashbuckling content dump.
