Current-gen ‘Cyberpunk 2077’ update may be arriving very soon

With good reason, a lot of fans were beginning to assume that CD Projekt Red had gone into hibernation mode, but it seems that the developer is almost ready to unveil the much-awaited definitive update for Cyberpunk 2077, which will supposedly bring Night City in all its glory to Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.
The controversial game is already playable on said consoles, of course, through Sony and Microsoft’s backward apps that allow PlayStation 4 and Xbox One games to run on their ninth-gen counterparts. That being the case, the performance is anything but smooth and optimized. There are still a ton of bugs, crashes, and all sorts of shenanigans that disrupt the gameplay flow for a lot of users, which is why most fans have opted to wait for the huge update that’ll hopefully redeem the game.
For the past year, CDPR has been working hard to smooth out the game’s rough edges, and it appears that they’re even meeting their deadline of Q1, 2022.
According to a recent report by Forbes, Cyberpunk 2077‘s Steam build has been updated for the first time since October, which in all likelihood heralds a major upcoming update. Of course, it’s still unclear if this is a small patch to prepare for the PS5/XSX release, or the big upgrade itself.
Considering the fact that CDPR president Adam Kiciński had further reaffirmed in a November interview that the next-gen update would release in the first quarter of 2022, our money’s on Cyberpunk 2077 getting that refurbishment sometime in February.
