Ms. Marvel Teased For Marvel’s Avengers At Comic-Con Panel

Who and how many superheroes are set to appear in Square Enix's upcoming Marvel's Avengers game? As of now, a final figure has yet to be determined but we at least know that all the major players are present and accounted for. Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Hulk and Black Widow are, so far, the only five characters 100% confirmed to be playable on launch but that modest cast is assuredly going to expand as we inch closer to release day.

Since its official unveiling at this year’s E3, numerous sources have dropped major hints in regards to other iconic heroes planned to appear in Marvel’s Avengers, most notably Ant-Man, who briefly showed up in the initial cinematic trailer. Hawkeye, too, is heavily rumoured to star in some capacity, thanks to Marvel’s earlier acknowledgement that the sharpshooter hasn’t been forgotten about.

But that’s largely where informed speculation ends. Developer Crystal Dynamics has done a terrific job of keeping tight-lipped on the subject of story and cast. Frustratingly so, in fact, but today brings with it some rather telling tidbits.

As per a panel discussing the title at San Diego Comic-Con this week, attendees were treated to a first look at new gameplay footage. A portion of that very same demo has since leaked online, though eagle-eyed fans privy to the whole segment appear to have stumbled upon something (or someone) rather significant. Spotted in the crowd of bystanders watching the Avengers do their world-saving work is Kamala Khan, or Ms. Marvel, as she’s better known, wearing a Captain Marvel T-shirt.

It’s worth noting, as always, that this sly Easter egg far from confirms Ms. (or Captain, for that matter) Marvel as being a playable character in Marvel’s Avengers, but at the very least, it confirms her existence in Crystal’s own take on the universe. Ultimately, however, we’ll just have to wait and see if either has an important role to play in the action-adventure title’s wider narrative. Stay tuned.
