Overwatch Console Patch 2.08 Brings Back Capture The Flag Mode

Overwatch fans are certainly being spoiled this week. Not only did an earlier patch (1.9) finally see the release of new hero Orisa on all platforms, but today's most recent update sees Blizzard reintroduce the shooter's Capture the Flag mode as well as make several tweaks to the game's roster. Do note that the patch is exclusively for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One - most of the changes 2.08 brings with it are already available on that platform. See below for the full patch notes (via Reddit).

Overwatch fans are certainly being spoiled this week. Not only did an earlier patch (1.9) finally see the release of new hero Orisa on all platforms, but today’s most recent update sees Blizzard reintroduce the shooter’s Capture the Flag mode as well as make several tweaks to the game’s roster. Do note that the patch is exclusively for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One – most of the changes 2.08 brings with it are already available on PC. See below for the full patch notes (via Reddit).

GENERAL UPDATES

  • Custom Games and Game Browser [PS4] Capture the Flag maps and mode have been reactivated

HERO UPDATES

  • Orisa [PS4/XB1] Orisa’s movement now slows slightly while firing in midair

BUG FIXES

  • General [PS4/XB1] Fixed a bug that prevented background music from playing [PS4/XB1] Fixed a bug that prevented the Damage Amplified value from being displayed correctly

In regards to the Orisa change, while it may seem like an obscure one to make on paper, the tweak results from a trend where players would continuously jump while firing the character’s Fusion Drive in order to negate the movement penalty she usually has while firing. In order to combat the behavior, Orisa will now suffer the same movement penalty while all four of her feet are off the ground.

That’s all for now, then, but with Orisa finally out in the open, expect to start seeing talk of who Overwatch‘s next hero will be begin to take shape over the next few months. Given the rather large gap between releases, it’s unlikely we’ll be seeing another roster addition anytime soon, but it’s always fun to speculate. Could it be that the long-rumored Doomfist will finally see the light of day in-game as the next playable character? We’ll have to wait and see.
