We first caught a glimpse of the character in a previous video showcasing the likes of Bane, Captain Cold and Grodd, but this is the first time NetherRealm has provided a proper breakdown of what the former psychologist can do. For those that were first introduced to the villain with Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, Dr. Jonathan Crane’s surreal incarnation here is likely to look a little alien – he’s considerably less, let’s say, human-like in this incarnation.

Given the opponents he’ll be up against, NetherRealm’s also seen fit to give Scarecrow some bulk, but his brute strength is the least of your worries. Besides performing a series of brutal combos by way of an unsanitary hook on his person, Crane also has access to his patented hallucinatory toxin that reduces his enemies to a gibbering mess as they combat their worst nightmares. The Batman himself feels the worst effects of the gas in Scarecrow’s finisher, which sees him turned into a paltry puppet and thrown around like a mere plaything. Check out the spectacle-laden trailer above.

Injustice 2 is out May 16 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and for those that missed it, a trailer released earlier this week provides a short but sweet summary of how the beat ’em up’s gear and loot system will work. Find it here.
