Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

Stunning New Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Gameplay Showcases AT-AT Set Piece

Finally, after what felt like a life-long wait, first gameplay for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was revealed earlier this month. Following the cinematic trailer shown off earlier this year at Star Wars Celebration, Respawn was awarded the stage at this year's E3 to give fans their first glimpse at Cal Kestis' in action and it didn't disappoint. While not quite a master of the Jedi arts, the sequence shown to audiences at EA Play certainly didn't skimp on showcasing Force-powered action. As a Padawan, Cal still has some difficult training ahead of him, no doubt, but he's by no means a rookie.

Lightsaber combat was certainly the show’s highlight, then, but that’s by no means the only key component of gameplay. When Cal isn’t busy carving a path (this is a blood and dismemberment-free zone, mind) through hordes of Stormtroopers, he’ll be partaking in a spot of platforming and puzzle-solving. Such segments are no doubt intended to complement the flow of each mission, but they’re far from a side attraction. And as if you needed any more proof of that fact, check out the latest footage above.

Is this the first time in Star Wars history that we’ve had the opportunity to explore an AT-AT interior? Who knows, but it never looked this good if so. That players will first be required to scale the walker’s shell before infiltrating it from the top is a dream come true for yours truly and that’s not even the primary set piece. Once Cal has dealt with the vehicle’s crew, he promptly gets behind the controls and proceeds to wreak havoc on the surrounding Imperial forces.

Despite Fallen Order‘s initial positive reception at E3, not until now has Respawn’s addition to the Star Wars universe truly made itself stand apart from what’s come before. With the final game sure to boast several sequences such as these, we can’t wait to see more ahead of launch.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is out this November for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
