Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order First Gameplay Reveal Features Plenty Of Lightsaber Action

After months of anticipation (and plenty of hype), Electronic Arts has given fans an in-depth look at Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

In April, Respawn Entertainment finally pulled back the curtain on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and ever since the reveal event at Star Wars Celebration, fans have been clamoring for more information, details, and most importantly, some gameplay footage.

Well, the big day is now upon us. Earlier this morning, as part of their EA Play 2019 event, Electronic Arts finally provided fans with a first look at some actual gameplay, thanks to a reveal trailer which shows off nearly 15 minutes of juicy footage.

Of course, it’s a bit difficult to figure out what platform the demo was running on. While the initial few seconds included a prompt to “Press A” (hinting at the use of an Xbox controller), there’s a good chance Respawn opted to show off the gameplay debut using a high-end PC with a gaming controller.

We already knew that story would play a big role in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, but the newly-released video also shed light on the game’s platforming and combat. Aside from a few brief cinematics, you’ll be able to see Padawan Cal Kestis (played by Cameron Monaghan, of Gotham and Shamelss fame), as he clambers up walls, jumps across pits and swings using vines.

Of course, there’s plenty of lightsaber combat as well. As opposed to the speedy swordplay seen in some of George Lucas’ Prequel Trilogy, the action here feels more deliberate and slow-paced, not unlike Dark Souls or Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is currently in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and is set to release worldwide on November 15th. Unfortunately, Respawn Entertainment has explained that they have no plans to port the game to the Nintendo Switch, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated on any new information or announcements as they come down the pipeline.
