7 Characters From The Walking Dead That Would Make For Great Telltale Spinoffs

While The Walking Dead's cast-iron grip on pop culture looks set to continue throughout 2018 and beyond by way of the ratings-topping TV show and, of course, the source material, there's one part of the post-apocalyptic series' wider universe that will soon be coming to a close and no, it's not Fear the Walking Dead.

The man, the myth, the legend: Negan sits head and shoulders above the rest of The Walking Dead‘s non-undead antagonists as its finest villain to date, having caused much more of a stir in his first appearance than the Governor managed throughout an entire story arc. Besides bashing in Glenn’s (and Abraham’s) skull as a means to establish himself as alpha of the post-apocalypse, the leader of the Saviors reduced Rick’s status as natural born leader to nothing more than a snivelling lap dog.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s portrayal of the character may not be to everyone’s tastes, but there’s no denying that, whatever version of the baseball bat lover you like most, Negan’s a terrifying – yet affable – force to be reckoned with.

But, despite the despicable acts of violence and the fearful cult of personality that solidify his leadership, there’s still just enough human left in Negan to make audiences care about his life and origins. Kirkman certainly deserves praise for his creation, as, after all, of what interest to anyone is a one-dimensional villain?

Owing to his popularity, a recently concluded spinoff comic series – Here’s Negan – spanning Negan’s life prior to leading the Saviors has been penned by Kirkman himself, and here’s where Telltale comes in. If given the green light to do so, the studio could work wonders with bringing the mini-arc to life in video game form, allowing fans to experience Negan’s life first-hand.
