7 Characters From The Walking Dead That Would Make For Great Telltale Spinoffs

While The Walking Dead's cast-iron grip on pop culture looks set to continue throughout 2018 and beyond by way of the ratings-topping TV show and, of course, the source material, there's one part of the post-apocalyptic series' wider universe that will soon be coming to a close and no, it's not Fear the Walking Dead.

Despite their not originating from Robert Kirkman’s source material, Daryl and Merle Dixon (the former in particular) near-instantly won the hearts of audiences around the globe following their debut in the TV series – an oddity, certainly, for such adaptations.

See, usually, when a beloved franchise makes the transition from one form of entertainment to the other, events are, more often than not, adjusted, tweaked or changed entirely for a variety of reasons. Whether the cause be an adherence to censorship laws, artistic license or something else entirely, what usually follows thereafter is a devastating onslaught of criticism from diehard fans of the original material, so blinded by their own outrage as to not even attempt to understand the reasons behind such a divergence.

As original characters penned specifically for the TV series, the Dixon brothers have since bucked that trend entirely, both of them being living (and undead) proof that taking liberties with the source material can, and often times does, work out well. Owing to their popularity, it seems a no-brainer for Telltale to try its hand at telling the story of the Dixon siblings prior to their fateful encounter with Rick’s group.

If nothing else, the brothers’ questionable past lifestyle would make for an interesting spin on the moral-heavy choices Telltale usually requires its players to make.
