10 Actresses Who Could Play Batgirl In The DCEU

Warner Brothers' DC Extended Universe just keeps on growing. After only recently announcing that a movie starring Nightwing is on its way, we now know that another of Batman's sidekicks is to feature in their own film. This time, it's Batgirl AKA Barbara Gordon. While this is exciting enough news on its own, what's really got people talking is the fact that Joss Whedon is currently in talks to direct the movie. If this goes ahead, it'll be one heck of a coup for DC, seeing as Whedon previously led Marvel to massive success with his two Avengers movies.

Anya Taylor-Joy

American-born British/Argentinian actress Anya Taylor-Joy has had a terrific couple of years. After making a big impression in the likes of Morgan, The Witch and Split, she’s become one of the major upcoming stars to watch in Hollywood for her ability to portray a maturity beyond her years.

That’s what makes the perfect candidate for a Batgirl based off The New 52 version. Taylor-Joy would excel at playing a young woman suffering from PTSD and struggling to reassess her identity after a dark period. At 20-years-old, she’s also just about at the right age (especially if Babs is aged down to be a college student rather than a graduate).

The only trouble is that she might be tied up with another rival superhero franchise, as last we heard she was signing up to play Magik in the X-Men movie New Mutants. Still, there’s always the possibility that Taylor-Joy could find the time to juggle both.

Tell us, who would you like to see play Batgirl? Sound off with your thoughts in the usual place!
