10 Actresses Who Could Play Batgirl In The DCEU

Warner Brothers' DC Extended Universe just keeps on growing. After only recently announcing that a movie starring Nightwing is on its way, we now know that another of Batman's sidekicks is to feature in their own film. This time, it's Batgirl AKA Barbara Gordon. While this is exciting enough news on its own, what's really got people talking is the fact that Joss Whedon is currently in talks to direct the movie. If this goes ahead, it'll be one heck of a coup for DC, seeing as Whedon previously led Marvel to massive success with his two Avengers movies.

By far, the most common name found on fancast lists for Batgirl is Emma Stone. The 28-year-old actress has the humour, the heart, the acting chops and not to mention the look to be a terrific Babs.

However, let’s be honest, how likely is it that the Oscar-winning star would jump on board the DC train? To be fair, the franchise has attracted an incredible pedigree of talent so far. Mostly though, they’re already established stars – Ben Affleck, Russell Crowe, Jared Leto – or upcoming talents looking for a role to really launch their careers – Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Margot Robbie.

With numerous high profile parts already under her belt – most notably, Mia in La La Land – Stone doesn’t really need to tie herself down to a multiple-movie contract. Especially after her previous experience with a superhero movie franchise – The Amazing Spider-Man, in which she played Peter’s girlfriend Gwen Stacy – went down the pan. So, while Stone’s casting would no doubt please a lot fans, we just can’t see it happening.

But, hey, you never know!
