10 Actresses Who Could Play Batgirl In The DCEU

Warner Brothers' DC Extended Universe just keeps on growing. After only recently announcing that a movie starring Nightwing is on its way, we now know that another of Batman's sidekicks is to feature in their own film. This time, it's Batgirl AKA Barbara Gordon. While this is exciting enough news on its own, what's really got people talking is the fact that Joss Whedon is currently in talks to direct the movie. If this goes ahead, it'll be one heck of a coup for DC, seeing as Whedon previously led Marvel to massive success with his two Avengers movies.

Rose Leslie

The Scottish actress has managed to nab roles in two of the biggest TV shows of recent years, namely Gwen Dawson in period drama Downton Abbey and Ygritte in Game of Thrones. Not to mention that she’s just started on The Good Fight, the sequel show to the successful The Good Wife. She’s pretty much conquered TV at this point, then, so it could be the right time for her to nail that big-screen break.

At 30-years-old, she’s another actress who’s slightly older than the college graduate Babs of the New 52 comics. However, like Winstead, Leslie could also pass for a lot younger, so that shouldn’t really be a problem.

Physically, Rose Leslie is the second best choice on this list to match Barbara Gordon’s look on the page, in particular the character’s iconic red hair. And while we’re at it, her GoT co-star and real-life partner Kit Harrington would make an awesome Dick Grayson AKA Nightwing, especially considering the pair are usually in a relationship.
