Hailee Steinfeld
The 20-year-old Hailee Steinfeld is one of the biggest young actresses around at the moment. She’s notched up a bunch of notable credits in her nascent career so far – True Grit, Pitch Perfect 2, The Edge of Seventeen – and she even got an Academy Award nomination when she was just 13.
If you’re going to be a Joss Whedon heroine, you need to be comfortable with quickfire jokes, serious drama and being tough in equal measure. Across her career so far, Steinfeld has proven that she can act funny, emotional and badass, so she could easily rise to the challenge of combining all three at once.
Truth be told, we imagine that Steinfeld would be a better fit for the “Batgirl of Burnside” incarnation of Babs – a younger, social media-obsessed version – but the actress would definitely be able to handle the more mature New 52 iteration, as well.
