To start off with, we have a fascinating off-hand comment rather than a full-on reveal, but it still ranks as one of the most interesting news pieces to come out of this year’s NYCC.

During the panel for the upcoming Underworld: Blood Wars, star Kate Beckinsale was asked if there had ever been any plans for a crossover with Marvel’s Blade, the vampire hunter played by Wesley Snipes in a trio of movies from 1998 t0 2004. Her intriguing reply was that this was touted at one point but “they’re busy. They’re doing something with Blade.”

The “they” in question is obviously Marvel Studios, which gives credence to the rumours that the Daywalker will soon be joining the MCU in some form. In fact, last year, Snipes himself said that he’d been talking to Marvel about returning to the role for a Blade 4. Despite that, we’d think the more likely course of action would be for the character to be recast. Perhaps for his own Netflix series? Time will tell, but rest assured that you haven’t seen the last of the vampire hunter.
