An action film directed by Richard Donner, based on a story by the Wachowskis, starring Sylvester Stallone and Antonio Banderas, and it’s sitting at 15% on RT? Get outta here. Sure, the plot’s weird and confusing as hell, but it’s an action flick – it’s meant to be completely bonkers!

Thankfully, this wasn’t the last time we got to see the ultimate machismo of Stallone and Banderas together on screen. They teamed up again in Spy Kids 3D and later in The Expendables 3. To quote my girls Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston (R.I.P.), “there can be miracles if you believe.”

Nonetheless, 1995 ended up being a dark time for poor ol’ Sly. Not only did he get two Razzie noms – one for this film and the other for Judge Dredd – but the year seemed to mark his decline as an A-list actor in the nineties.
