10 Perfect Director/Comic Book Movie Pairings

People often forget how important directors are. When a blockbuster succeeds, the praise of the general public tends to fall on the actors or storyline. Moon Knight

Moon Knight isn’t particularly well known, even among fans of Marvel, but then neither was Jessica Jones and look at how well her show is doing on Netflix right now. That doesn’t mean every C-list Marvel hero suddenly deserves their own adaptation though, no offence Darkhawk, but Moon Knight has more potential than most.

Although he started out as a dull Batman clone, more adventurous writers eventually brought Moon Knights deep rooted psychological issues to the forefront, transforming him into a fascinating case study of vigilantism pushed to the brink.

In the cult hit Drive, indie filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn showed that he can handle a protagonist living life on the edge, and Moon Knight certainly shares some psychotic traits with the unnamed driver. Refn specializes in noir-ish visuals that reflect his protagonists warped view of reality, making it hard to imagine a better director to depict Moon Knight’s schizophrenia in all of its unbalanced glory.

Dream projects rarely come to fruition, so if Refn doesn’t get his hands on a cinematic Moon Knight adaptation, keep your fingers crossed for an eventual Netflix TV show instead. If Daredevil deserved a second chance after that Ben Affleck travesty, then Moon Knight sure as hell deserves a first one!
