10 Perfect Director/Comic Book Movie Pairings

People often forget how important directors are. When a blockbuster succeeds, the praise of the general public tends to fall on the actors or storyline. Despite reigning over two thirds of the planet, Aquaman is the butt of every superhero joke, which is why the TV show Entourage thought it would be hilarious to spoof the marine hero, pretending that an Aquaman movie could actually hold the biggest box office opening of all-time.

While Vinny Chase has now been replaced by Jason Momoa in real life and Mandy Moore’s Aquagirl is thankfully nowhere to be seen, Entourage did get one thing right. An Aquaman film helmed by James Cameron really could become one of the biggest movies ever made.

James Wan has been impressing critics and audiences alike in recent years, but few filmmakers can hold a candle to Cameron, who directed the two most successful movies of all-time. Sprawling fantasy epics are Cameron’s specialty. Imagine the grandeur of Avatar combined with the cutting edge effects of The Abyss, all set within the DC universe. The potential is staggering.

Any fears that Warner Bros. may hold about the Aquaman franchise would be instantly allayed if Cameron and his impressive box office clout were merged together.

No more ‘seaman’ jokes for this iconic hero, that’s for sure.
